As Republican infighting grows, donors call for calm

WASHINGTON (AP) — Worried about "Republican on Republican violence," top party donors are taking action, with one firing off a letter calling for more civility and another seeking to block businessman Donald Trump from the debate stage altogether.

Foster Friess, a Wyoming-based investor and one of the party's top 20 donors in the last presidential contest, issued a letter to 16 White House prospects and the Republican National Committee late last week calling for candidates to stay on the "civility reservation."

"Our candidates will benefit if they all submit to Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment, 'Thou shall not speak ill of a fellow Republican,'" Friess wrote in a copy of the letter sent to Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus and obtained by The Associated Press.

LOL! My sentiments exactly. All the case of nerves around here because some red head can cut to the chase, tweet out 141 characters of unadulterated truth, and all hell breaks loose against him. I mean, it is laughable. The freaking out is coming from all the right places, too. The Establishment, their candidates, the media, the Left, La Raza, but here on FR, it’s been a bit of a shock hasn’t it?

I don’t think anyone has a sense of humor any more. I am thoroughly enjoying the horse race, comfortable that my favorite candidate (Cruz) is cool as a cucumber, has plenty of money to go the distance, and I can sit back and cheer the Trumpet for what he is saying and the way he is saying it in particular! I say, good on Trump.

Trump will flame out in a matter of days. His own fat mouth will effectively end his “candidacy”.

I wouldn't be so sure - many Americans are fed up to here with the illegal invasion and the GOP going along to get along with the Obumbler (funding his illegal amnesty).

IT is way too early to count Trump out - he is popular with folks I speak with.

Cruz has the potential to change America back to our foundation.

How? Seriously how? Very few Senators like him....about 5 will guarantee to vote with him on votes and the House is not exactly thrilled with him completely....he may have 40 House Members that will vote for bills with his ideas. The only way he could run the country is with Executive Orders. Plus the Democrats will filibuster everything. Cruz will have to be a dictator to get anything done and that is a true statement.

RINO’s only hate Republican on Republican violence when the Conservatives are winning. Newsflash to Preibus and the rest of the GOP top dogs. We could care less about your damn party, because you don’t give a damn about us. Sure we’ll use you to try to get a Conservative nominated for President, but as a party, you’re no longer worth fighting for.

From your keyboard to G-d's ears. Yes, a fan, but we have, already, a nice side for this "match".

The GOP suddenly realizes that Conservatives go out and vote, while "Chamber of Commerce" donates.

What we are up against is the Republican Party.

You’re making me like Cruz more.

Your complaint about him is that a RINO house and senate that backs Obama’s policies wouldn’t like Cruz’s.

Means he is a conservative and that’s why I’m backing him.

“I like the way trump is calling out and exposing the PC lies.I say let him keep exposing.I don’t want him for president because of his left wing history, but he’s planting seeds that make people think about what’s really happening around them.”

After the PC rulings from the SC, executive amnesty, and changing southern history in a Stalinesque way, people are ready for a straight talking candidate. Not that I back him, but he is bringing up subjects the RINOs are trying to brush under the carpet.

I watched the interview of Christie on Fox yesterday.
I already wont vote for him because of 2nd amendment issues, but he made Jeb look like Ronald Reagan. I don’t know how the guy calls himself a Republican with a straight face.

"Any publicity is good publicity"

The Donald is taking it to the Convention. I think he is, "deep down" (cough), someone not resembling a redistributionist Socialist.

Regardless, he is taking the public debate where it needs to go.

Or he knows the GOP is finished.

They’ve had zero winners since Reagan who was not even theirs, they despised him. Exept Bushes, and do they count? With their dubious loyalties, connections and donors.

They’ve had two awesome landslide historically significant elections taking the senate and the house and they allow the dems to be in charge.

Why would he go third party instead of taking the paper tiger out and moving in?

I don’t care. I asked you very serious questions and you totally ignore it by saying that you are going to support a guy because of me....talk about low information voters. You are the poster child.

And the Senate and House can be RINO all they want and will make it IMPOSSIBLE for Cruz to get anything done....not that it hasn’t happen his whole senate career but as President we will probably get sick of hearing what he would like to do especially for 8 years. Eventually we will think he is just a talker.......

There's a leadership vacuum in the Republican party and Trump is determined to fill it.
