As Republican infighting grows, donors call for calm

WASHINGTON (AP) — Worried about "Republican on Republican violence," top party donors are taking action, with one firing off a letter calling for more civility and another seeking to block businessman Donald Trump from the debate stage altogether.

Foster Friess, a Wyoming-based investor and one of the party's top 20 donors in the last presidential contest, issued a letter to 16 White House prospects and the Republican National Committee late last week calling for candidates to stay on the "civility reservation."

"Our candidates will benefit if they all submit to Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment, 'Thou shall not speak ill of a fellow Republican,'" Friess wrote in a copy of the letter sent to Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus and obtained by The Associated Press.

You might wanna read the guys actual history before getting any more tingly, chris. Because any ‘conservative’ that supports the guy is a fraud.

"Ask yourself why us conservatives are so pro-Trump at this point and time, we aren’t a bunch of dummies."

Believe me, I've been asking myself that question for a while now, and I really don't want to accept the only answer I can come up with.

Now there’s a dilemma of Lesser Evil proportions if there ever was one.

Are they functioning at the reasoning level of a child?

Are they simply liberals hiding behind an R?

All I know is that if anyone can read his history of gay support, Democrat funding, anti gun statements, opposition to Reagan and a host of other things regularly attributed to Barack Obama, Mitt Romney or Hillary Clinton and vote for him knowing the truth of those positions, I have to go with fraud.

Oh, dude. I was reading a thread last night, and a few of the more ardent Trump supporters are now trying to obtain zots for anyone who criticizes him.

No I have 30 years of history supporting my contention that a professional DC politicians will do nothing to stop the invasion. The invasion has been going on since the 1986 amnesty deal. Has ANYONE in DC done ANYTHING to stop it in the last 30 years? Anyone? No, not one damn thing. The Rats want the illegal votes the the GOP wants the cheap labor. Ergo, using logic, not meaningless labels like liberal/conservative one can conclude that neither the DC Rats or the DC GOPers will do anything. So if we want something done (and I do) then we have to look for someone not a card carrying Rat or a beltway GOPer. So who is the only non professional politician in the race? The Donald. The Donald is the only one in the race that has any credibility on the illegal immigration issue.

Did you believe Mitt when he said he was a severe conservative too? There is another 30 years of History with Trumps name on it. Read it.

Read that sentence a couple of times, and ponder its meaning.

Money is speech and Foster likes to hear himself talk.

Well, so be it. I expect someone like me will get fried before they do anyway because backing off isn’t an option. And I’m fine with that eventuality. I care about America more than any website.

They are liberals. It’s what they do.

You’re absolutely correct that no one has done a thing to stop it. That’s one reason I support Cruz; he’s a politician like no other we’ve seen, IMO.

You say you want someone who isn’t a card-carrying ‘Rat? I already told you Trump has said, out of his own golden hallelujah mouth, that he self-identifies as a Democrat. And his past supports that claim. What do you not get here?

And please, can you NOT use that stupid “The Donald?” It makes me grit my teeth. It’s the kind of fawning thing you hear from low-information reality show fans.

Yes, they were cackling about all the fun they were going to have when the kitties got there.

Because conservatives were pegging a liberal for what he is.

Well, I gotta be me.

What is a "severe conservative"?

Illegal immigration has been my number one issue for many years now. Romney was the best candidate on that issue last election so I voted for him in the general. McCain was horrible on that issue in 2008 so I did not vote for him in the general. BTW Newt was cruising to the nomination until he jumped the shark on illegal immigration. All you GOPe types simply do not get it on illegal immigration. Yall seem of be fine with letting the nation be over run by 3rd world illegals. I think that is a terrible position for any American to have.

So the best guy on illegal immigration got caught twice with illegals working in his own house and you don’t have an issue with that.

They were the same illegals by the way. So not only did you piss away your vote on a criminal liberal father of gay marriage who personally funded the murder of babies, you did so with an unrepentant criminal that has no respect for the very issue that ‘earned’ your vote.

I really don’t know what to say about that. I think stupid of that level stands on it’s own.
