Isn’t there a halting mechanism that is activated when the trading becomes very unstable? Like a market tank?

Circuit breakers. The market hasn’t dipped that much.

The halting mechanism kicks in for several different reasons. The markets tanking is one of them. Another is unusual volume across a market sector, and sudden drops that occur in a matter of seconds.

I think there's a few others which escape me at the moment.
