GOP Moves to Overturn Confederate Flag Limits
WSB Radio ^ | Wednesday, July 8, 2015 | Jamie Dupree

In a surprise, Republicans late Wednesday moved to overturn limits on the sale and display of the Confederate flag that had been approved a day earlier by the U.S. House, setting up a showdown vote for Thursday on whether the National Park Service should allow sales of the flag and on how the Confederate flag should be displayed at certain federal cemeteries.

The move was unexpected, coming as lawmakers were quietly finishing debate on a spending bill that covers operations of the National Park Service.

Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA), the lead Republican on the measure, had been giving final wrap-up remarks about the legislation, when he suddenly interrupted his own speech to offer an amendment that would nullify several actions taken by the House on Tuesday related to the Confederate flag.

SNIP

But as news spread about the two amendments from Huffman, and one from Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), it was obvious there were misgivings, especially among Republicans I quizzed from the South.

That led to the offering of a surprise amendment, which will put the House on the record about the Confederate flag, and whether it should be sold in National Park Service gift shops and book stores, as well as whether the rebel flag should be displayed at some federal cemeteries on a regular basis.

Confederate war dead are legally American war dead afforded all the same dignity and honor as a soldier killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. The flag they fought under should get at least some protection.

indeed. Shocking how many people can’t wait to change-—anything-—no matter other’s wishes.

Like it matters. We are so f****d. The Marxists/statist/liberals just keep pouring it on. They mean to win and rub it in. They know how to play and they play to win. Conservative/libertarians are Texas Leaguers when it comes to brass knuckles power politics. We gave them the House and Senate and they f****d us royally. We are so screwed.

I called my elected congress traitor this morning asking how he voted. LOL

His office told me that it hadn’t come up for a vote yet. I informed them that the house vote happened last night. Silence.

I am disgusted by these so-called republican traitors.

Between 1900 and 1960 congress passed several laws that guaranteed confederate war dead exactly the same status as all Union and American war dead.

Trump might be the only person who can save the useless Republican Party. Even those who try to be conservative get outmaneuvered.

Its qll about control. The liberals insist that all bow at their altar of control.
Control over every aspect of daily life from the cradle to the grave is the Demoliberals’ ultimate goal.
Much of this control stems from creating an emotional frenzy about targets of their control. And, they push for more control at the height of the emotion before It wanes. Its control of names of sports team names, control of what flag to display or not display, control of types of energy they dont approve of, even control over barbeque grills and smokers in liberal nirvanas like California.
And, the holy grails of liberalism, gun “control” and control of religious freedom.

However, we are seeing open rebellion against their control. Some Judges refusing to perform gay “marriages.” Court Clerks quitting rather than issuing those licenses, and other related examples.
And, it can backfire in a major way with the proliferation of the Confederate flag at this last weekends NASCAR race.
Enough. We can run our lives, raise our kids, and control own own destiny better than lib planners have laid It out for us all.

No, he’s not perfect and has work to do, but thus far, he’s poking them in the eye and bringing an awareness to the major issues.

His answer is to preserve the place of the Confederate flag as an important part of US history. I'd think by what Trump said the Confederate flag could stay anywhere on public property that's designated as an historic site.

It's a heck of a lot better than the HOR 'pubs who voted to take down the Confederate flag on federal sites and didn't even know it.
