I just wonder if any conservative would win.....I can’t imagine a majority would reelect Thomas or Alito......then again Ginsburg would have been gone 5 years ago. I think it depends on when the elections are whether we would do well or not. I think off Presidential Elections, we would do great, but during Presidential elections, we’d end up with some liberal judges on the Supreme Court. It would be interesting to see the make up of the court if we started this 10 years ago.

Conservative, liberal - hell I'd settle for any justice who took their job seriously.

Its like hiring a plumber and expecting him to fix your faucet, not tune your car.

Well, there are some alternatives. Have each justice assigned to a slot on the court which gets has to get reconfirmed every 9 years so only one per year is ever on the hot seat. Would they possibly be booted by a partisan congress so they could get their own in? Maybe so. But at least they would all have to defend themselves and their rulings in public and suffer the consequences if they could not. And by limiting it to one per year, it would take years to change the complexion of the court overall. In the meantime, elections of congress could hold them accountable if they start trying to pack the court by removing justices for frivolous reasons.

That's called checks and balances, which we now lack.
