Let's just rip off the band-aid and call it what it is.

Illegal aliens are America's 21st century slaves.

Illegals are welcomed in certain industries in the US because they will accept lower wages than Americans. As long as illegals continue to take those jobs, wages to perform them will forever remain suppressed. If amnesty prevails and these now illegals become legal workers, they will have to be employed in compliance with the law. That means their wages will have to be raised and the accompanying employment/insurance/benefit costs will have to be added. Under those circumstances, maybe some Americans would be more willing to work at these companies. If not, the shortage of labor would necessitate an increase in pay until sufficient labor became available.

How will those industries which rely on illegal labor be able to survive when amnesty transpires? They will simply hire more illegals from the never-ending crop of cheap labor will will continue to be available.

If your business model requires slave labor, you will always require slaves.

“How will those industries which rely on illegal labor be able to survive when amnesty transpires?”

The businesses will let their now-legal workers go and hire a new bunch of illegals. Just like they did the last time.

Granting amnesty in 1986 didn’t stop the flow of illegals, it actually increased the flow and made the problem worse.

Worse, we won't have to wait a hundred fifty years for them to be the 'descendents of slaves to whom we owe everything' government dependents.
