How do you solve a problem like The Donald?
That question is currently consuming the minds (and fueling the nightmares) of leading Republican power brokers.
And you gotta have some sympathy for their plight.
Actually, I take that back. It's entirely possible to have nothing but schadenfreude for what the GOP is going through. There is certainly a chickens-coming-home-to-roost character to Donald Trump's meteoric rise in the polls over the past couple of weeks. This is a party, after all, that has spent close to the entirety of the Obama administration stoking right-wing populism, encouraging conspiracy theories about the president and his policies, and deploying wildly irresponsible rhetoric about the dire threats posed to the nation by mainstream members of the Democratic Party. Trump's campaign, which is powered almost entirely by demagogic bluster and insults, is a kind of apotheosis of the party's strategy these past several years.

I amazes me as I watch this unfold, so many simply REFUSE to consider Trumps political history verses his current hardcore rhetoric.
The sooner we waking up to the fact were being punked and manipulated, the sooner we can find a truly conservative candidate
_____________
I was thinking about this the other day. Trump is far from stupid and understands marketing.
He is managing to rile up conservatives, maybe enough to win some conservative votes, while painting all republicans as racist.
We could be getting played.
I’d like to see Freepers hold Donald Trump to the same standard they rightly held Mitt Romney.
Well they better vote for Bush in the end.
NO WAY IN HELL
I will never ever vote to give my country to fraudulently documented foreigners and abandon the rule of law.
That’s what a vote for Yeb Bush is
If Cruz was up to the task he wouldn’t have waited for Trump to state what’s obvious regarding illegals and would have stood with Sessions on the TPA vote. It took Trump to point out that the free traitors are using these agreements to screw America.
Yeah, this author is a lefty tool. There is so much invective it’s a waste of time reading it.
fearful, racist hater bump
OK OK it was really a joke. I know we would be just as worst off.
Honestly, I agree with that.
Did you forget the sarcasm tag?
bump
yes I did, getting alot of angry comments.
The author is a smear mongering liberal. What else is new in the media?
No doubt The Donald will ignite the fight.
Even if he gets silenced, which is questionable, the base has been energized and are now willing to move beyond complaining and into action.
Due to high response Trump's Arizona campaign event is moving from the Arizona Biltmore to the Phoenix Convention Center.
The event is Saturday and they have 3,500 RSVP’s right now.
The GOPe hated Reagan but he won by appealing to the ordinary voters of both parties. We conservatives need to use that approach.
You can handle it, my Friend.
It has often been said in jest that a conservative is a liberal who got mugged, the meaning of course that being slapped by reality can jolt a person into drastically redefining their political world view. That said, maybe Donald Trump was mugged (euphimistically). A terrible economy, millions out of work, and rampant crime can’t be favorable to the real estate development and casino biz.
What a garbage of an article. It comes from the viewpoint that conservatives are angry racist fringe people. Disgusting media.
