Deputies are investigating the discovery of a hidden cell phone camera hiding inside the women’s restroom at a Starbucks in Lancaster, California.
A woman, who asked not to be identified, told KTLA that her 5-year-old son found the cell phone around 10:30 a.m. at the Starbucks near Avenue K and 10th Street on Thursday, July 9th.
“My son used the restroom first and I used the restroom after him. I noticed he was staring at the sink a little bit perplexed. I asked him what was wrong and he said, ‘Mommy, why is there a phone under there?'” said the boy’s mother.
The woman looked under the sink and saw a phone propped up by paper towels with the camera facing toward the toilet. She immediately notified employees and they contacted the sheriff’s department.

Ooh! Restroom spys make me mad! - We used to go to a restaurant where the guy who owned the place had a setup where he had the men & the women’s restroom situated right beside each other. I happened to notice that a very transparent & large hole had been cut out in the wall under the toilet paper holder. I stuck a great big wad of toilet paper in the hole. The owner of the place started clearing his throat real loud; he was in the men’s restroom right beside the women’s restroom attempting to spy on me. - I went out & told one of the women who worked there what had happened. Her reaction? “Yeah. We know about that.” I wondered why they tolerated it.
That thug would have found himself inspecting the bore of my 9mm.
I’m not trying to excuse the fellow. He was probably well into his eighties at that time. He died not too long after that (of old age). - I got to the place where when my husband & I traveled (which we had to a lot for our work), I just got to the place when I went into a public restroom, I realized there wasn’t any way I could detect all possible hidden cameras. I wear long skirts & dresses anyway; so most is concealed. I just decided that if someone is that desperate; they’re pretty pathetic. - So, I just relaxed & went when I needed to go & to heck with them.
Most Starbucks have single user lockable gender neutral facilities. Mom or dad can look inside, ensure the room is empty, and stand outside with confidence.
