Williamson Aims At Trump’s ‘WHINOS’–and Misses The Mark
Breitbart ^ | 7/12/15 | Joel B Pollak

Posted on 07/12/2015 9:48:24 AM PDT by jimbo123

Kevin Williamson of National Review Online attacks the conservative base of the Republican Party in his latest column, “WHINOS: On the Martyrdom of the Holy, Holy Base.”

His critique makes the valid point that conservatives who favor ideological purity or populist venting over electability are going to lose a lot of elections. He is as irritated as his colleague Jonah Goldberg is worried about the Donald Trump insurgency in the Republican presidential primary. However, both he and Goldberg fail to note the reason for Trump’s ascendancy.

Trump is surging for the same reason that Newt Gingrich enjoyed a brief bubble in the 2012 primary: he is taking on the media. Or, more accurately, he is being victimized by it.

The media’s over-reaction to Trump’s comments about Mexicans is of a piece with the “two minutes’ hate” against the Confederate flag, and the courts’ pursuit of Christian bakers. You don’t have to have a soft spot for billionaires, or like the Dukes of Hazzard, or enjoy beating the Bible to feel a sense of alarm at the media’s mob behavior. It is intended as a warning to the rest of us.

People are rallying around Trump even more strongly after the shocking murder of 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle, who was gunned down by an illegal alien felon who lived in the U.S. due to the “sanctuary city” policies of the Democratic Party. Trump is perceived as speaking for the victims–and the potential victims, who include every single American.

The leading candidates of both political parties all support some form of immigration reform that will grant legal status to illegal aliens before the border is secure. Trump is finally giving voice to the opposition.

Good to see media liberals making the same arguments verbatim as the Freeper liberals.

Chalk up another win for our vindication.

The money quote:

The conservative “base” is many things, but mostly it is tired of being told it doesn’t care. It cares most of all.

Long time until the election and a lot can and will change, but for now I am really enjoying watching the left have a meltdown.

“The leading candidates of both political parties all support some form of immigration reform that will grant legal status to illegal aliens before the border is secure. Trump is finally giving voice to the opposition.”

There it is. Most of us (those of us who do not hire Mexican gardeners or maids) have had a kitchen/bathroom sink or toilet overflow.
We didn’t start mopping up while the sink/toilet was overflowing. We turned off the faucet or water supply.

The Uniparty’s position is nonsensical to most of us—at least to those of us uninterested in 30 million new Democrats or assurance of a continuing supply of pool boys or someone to make our beds for us.

And after Ted Kennedy’s 1965 “chain migration” from the 3rd world act, and then the Democrats again pulling the rug out from under America in 1986, with GOP acquiescence: for the Inner parties to propose with a straight face that immigration reform that will grant legal status to illegal aliens before the border is secure ... that is downright insulting to us plebs.

Williamson’s a great writer and why shouldn’t he defend his colleague? Trump and his Trumpkins can really dish it out but can’t take it so well.

We have principles. When have Democrats talked about the need to go after pro-life or pro-gun voters?

We have principles.

Yes we do. I will never support a man in a Republican primary who says he is for socialized health care and banning guns.

Oh yeah? So is a clueless, feckless, corrupt party that craps all over its base as a matter of routine.

What burns up the left and the GOP establishment the most is: they can’t “control” Trump. All of their accusations against him eventually backfire.

Williamson is not a great writer. He’s just another butt-hurt National Review Jeb Bush apologist who despises the conservative base.

Those are two of my three drop dead issues. In both the primary and the general election, I will vote for someone who will (1) repeal Obamacare, (2) protect my God-given individual right to keep and bear arms, and (3) secure the border without Amnesty.

Face it. Trump my be the only republican that can win the general.

Obama turned the presidency into “Celebrity President” and Trump is the only one on our side with more or the same name recognition as Clinton/Bush.

But with Cruz as his running mate you won't have to worry about Obamacare or the 2nd amendment.

In a Trump Presidency Cruz would not be relegated to attending funerals. Trump would treat him the same as a vice president in his company. He would have a say.

Every thing said about the liberals and the media is true, if it is bad.

But lets face it, socialism is winning and has been for many years.

Ronald Reagan tried to turn it around but it did not get screwed up in eight years and could not be fixed in eight years.

If the American people did not want socialism we would not have it as this nation is not run by a dictator it is run by the people, not according to the constitutional republic but mob rule.

The working people who believe in socialism needs every thing taken away from them and given to some one who will not work, that is the only way they will be able to see the evils of socialism.

The Mexicans used to come here to work because under the Capitalist frame of mind we had work.

But under the socialist frame of mind the only work we have is what the Americans will not do because they can be much happier being taken care of by the socialist government.

The illegal aliens are just the out come, not the cause.

I don't have to face that at all. In fact, I don't believe it to be true. Trump may be popular with those who like what he has been saying, but this isn't a popularity contest and Trump isn't black. I doubt seriously he can win the general.
