Do you deny that up until relatively recently Trump held very different positions on immigration and gun rights than those he is currently espousing?

No I do not, but if all the other dwarfs ignore what it is that is making Trump the hot item he is then you can start practicing saying Madam President.

I said back when Trump was first starting to roar that if he and Carly both made the first debate, Carly would be the one that gained. We shall see.

I really like Cruz but single digit polls will make it hard to break out, if he does not become a fire breathing fire in the belly Conservative.

Don’t you hate it when that happens? Somebody you dont trust starts saying things you can’t disagree with. It’s awful, just awful. Will the real Donald please stand up.

“I can’t believe there aren’t a incredible number of Democrats who are unhappy with things in their party these days.”

Any Democrat who was reasonably intelligent and had any love for the truth left the party long ago. The ones who are left are either going along for the benefits of one kind or another or they are just too disconnected from reality to comprehend what is going on and there are a lot of the latter.

There are some Democrats who remain registered that way, but vote for Republicans. It’s a family thing.

George Putnam in Los Angeles was that way. He railed on the Democrats and Leftists non-stop, but he remained a Democrat out of loyalty to the old days.

Frankly, I could never have become a Democrat at any point in history I can think of.

“The only reason GHW Bush was elected was because of Reagan...sadly Bush was too stupid to know it, hence one term.”

You may be right but I got the impression that GHW did not WANT a second term, looking at his watch in the middle of a debate as if he couldn’t wait to get out of there may have cost him the election. Then when the Bushes acted like best Buddies with Clinton after the election I was fairly well convinced that he never wanted that second term any more than I want another sixteen ounce T-bone two minutes after I just finished one.

There was a time when I would split a ticket, voting for a Republican for president and a Democrat for the Senate but that was long ago. I am at the point now that I don’t want to vote for most Republicans and there is no way on Earth I vote for another Democrat.

I may have done it in the early days, but I grew up watching what the Left/Liberals were advocating in the 60s and 70s, and there was no way I would knowingly vote for anyone who supported that.

I don’t think I have ever voted for a Democrat. Of course, as you intimate, voting for Republicans is doing that now-a-days.

(This is Long but if you want to understand FReepers’ joy at Donald Trump right now, read it.)

At the earliest of this race, six months ago, say, Cruz was laughed at in the press, so I wasn’t sure he could get over the Palinization. I had / still have no idea if Cruz does have something in his past that will have him “appear to be” not what he is. For example, if he had a Laura Bush traffic death in his past, would we ever hear the end of how he is a murderer? If he had sex in high school and unbeknownst to him, the girl got pregnant and went on to have an abortion and never told him anything, but now comes forward to hurt his run, will he be a “Christian hypocrite?” Even, was he ever alone in a room with a female colleague who didn’t like him, who will now lie and say Cruz made a pass? Sobbing with Gloria Allred on TV? I knew these things would be tried.

So I saw a potential Jeb / Hillary nomination situation. I wised up this time and knew I could never pop a chad for Jeb, as badly as I do not want the murderous phony corrupt hillary as CinC. I resolved to fight for Cruz or another conservative, go down trying, and then abstain if a goper is the Republican nominee. Yes, I resigned myself to the USofA having another enemy President in Hillary.

Therefore, with that mindset, shared by a lot of other FReepers I am sure, to have Donald Trump come along and say the clear, unvarnished truth, I have HOPE again. He is unbeholden, he loves this country, and wants to see it great again. So what if he supported liberals or even if he is a liberal. To me, Trump would be preferable to Jeb or Hillary. Think about that last sentence.

President Jeb would destroy the country with amnesty. He would be namby pamby and stand for absolutely nothing. President Hillary will be very similar to President Obama, siding with Islamists over us, and profiting handsomely. The Clintons couldn’t even SPELL morality.

And imagine if Trump brought Cruz aboard as his Veep: hope only grows for this country to return to its Constitutional roots.

That is why FReepers like what Trump is doing, wherever it may lead. Cruz is by far the smartest and it shows. Right now, you see the media personalities’ and candidates’ IQs printed on their foreheads. Anyone ripping Trump a new one from either side of the aisle is too dumb to be a chess player. Anyone who can play chess can see that these people will become stuck, as Rush is saying. They won’t be able to walk back their scorn. They will appear wrong or just stupid. Yes. They appear stupid already.

Perfect example: Ben Stein said that he didn’t like what Trump said about HISPANICS. Really? Because Trump said nothing about Hispanics. Trump was talking about illegal aliens, and you would have to be a) stupid and b) racist to connect every Hispanic with illegal aliens. [my daughter is Hispanic and she’s never been near the border.]

Relax, everyone. Trump will never go third party, ever.

Firstly, he doesn't want to go down in perpetual infamy (for putting Hillarious into office) such as Perot did with Bubba Clinton.

Secondly, such a stupid move on his part (putting HRC into the oval office) would irreparably hurt his business ventures and his relations with movers and shakers of all political persuasions in the U.S. economic landscape. Only someone with nothing to lose would embark on such an ill-advised third party campaign.

....and Donald Trump WOULD have a lot to lose business-wise.....and despite his brash, exuberant ego, "stupid" he is NOT.
