The article is an unfair, dishonest attack on Senator Cruz.
But it does provide interesting information. Senator Cruz introduced legislation in the Senate to mandate that the Pentagon award Purple Hearts to those injured at Ft. Hood. And it was this legislation that forced the Obama Administration to award the Purple Hearts.
The article talks about others who also worked on the same issue over the years. It does not mention the Obama people and the Senate Democrats who fought against it for so long. It unfairly smears Cruz as someone trying to take credit.
But it shows Cruz sponsored the legislation that got it done.

Cruz: “I was very proud last year to introduce legislation in the Senate to mandate that the Pentagon award those Purple Hearts.
The Beast: “I won those Purple Hearts.”
Liberal rag playing to the simpletons. I used to wonder how those people could sleep at night, but I came to realize defamation of conservatives is their JOB.

I'm a big fan of doing my own research for exactly this reason. The media can't be trusted.
it is a melancholy truth that a suppression of the press could not more compleatly deprive the nation of its benefits, than is done by its abandoned prostitution to falsehood. nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle. the real extent of this state of misinformation is known only to those who are in situations to confront facts within their knolege with the lies of the day.

Cruz should now state that being allowed to carry a gun would have been way better than being awarded any kind of medal.

I’ve listened to the speech. He says his legislation and dogged determination forced DOD to recognize the combat injuries received by Ft Hood soldiers during Hassan’s attack. He never says he earned those Purple Hearts.
Which, if the author had half a brain, he would realize would be an impossible thing to claim, since the Purple Heart is won for combat wounds. Never heard Cruz claim to have been wounded in Congress. Although some probably wanted to shoot him.
