You could say the same about the Greek Drachma. The only reason the US can get away with printing money is that so far the world accepts the dollar as the reserve currency. That is, the currency used for international business transactions. But that can change. In the early 1900’s the British pound was the reserve currency.

Nowadays, the Chinese, Russians and others are trying to set up their own reserve currency. I hope they succeed because that will eventually rein in the US government spending. Whether that causes the SHTF remains to be seen. My betting is that we do get riots.
