The North Carolina man who responded to the South Carolina church massacre by further covering his property in the rebel flag was arrested and jailed this week on a probation violation charge, records show.
Edward Lee West, 69, is locked up in the Nash County jail in advance of an August 5 court appearance. Seen in the adjacent mug shot, West was collared Wednesday afternoon.
According to court records, a judge issued an arrest warrant for West after he failed to show up last week for a court hearing on the probation violation charge. West, whose rap sheet is brimming with weapons-related charges, is serving two years probation for a misdemeanor conviction earlier this year for “Assault Pointing Gun.”

Thank you for posting this. And you are correct: I had forgotten about the Confederate national flag. This is hardly a quibble. Details are the essence of knowledge.
(And, as an aside, if ever there were a just cause in this world, it was the South’s desire to free itself, legally under the Constitution, of an imperial federal government.)

Dude, down off your high horse....those weapons related charges were LONG BEFORE he put the flags up, which were done in response to the attack on the flag due to Charleston. I hate to burst your bubble, and that of the little immature blog site you posted from, but the headline is terribly misleading...and true to Free Republic form, few have read more than the headline....

It’s funny (well, not REALLY)...you can’t even mention Ayn Rand without causing people to become completely unhinged around here. I don’t agree with significant portions of her objective philosophy, that is, I don’t buy it hook, line and sinker, but...when she is right, she is right.
People can’t seem to get it through their heads that if Ayn Rand says the sky is blue, that you can accept that as truth without accepting her disdain of God and religion, or anything else.

Tiday I am flying the “Spirit” flag of the Citadel. I live in SC so people think it is just a pretty SC flag. It flew over the cadets when the first shots were fired at Ft Sumter when they turned away the Union supply ship. There are about 10 confederate flags 90% of people don’t recognize. I have 5 of them and fly them every day. They will have to ban a lot if flags to stop the flying of the “Cinfederate” flag. Flood the zone!!!

They are what I would call “purists” - people that immediately throw anyone overboard at soon as they notice the slightest deviation between that persons beliefs and their own sacrosanct ones.
And yes there are quite a few freepers who for example don’t find Cruz conservative enough. It really blows my mind.
I have tried to triage what my most important issues are (not ALL issues, just the MOST important ones) and I make my choices from there. It immediately and completely removes any Democrat from my consideration when I do that.
It is why I could support a man like George W. Bush overall, but disagree with him completely (and sometimes, vehemently) on multiple issues, including some that were important to me.

Whether or not the charges against him are valid, he failed to show up as required. Flags or no flags, he is in the wrong.
