During these times, reading work by Orwell and Rand, I often have the urge to shout at the top of my lungs: “For God’s sake, the works of Orwell and Rand were meant to serve as a warning, not be a damned instruction manual!”
It’s funny (well, not REALLY)...you can’t even mention Ayn Rand without causing people to become completely unhinged around here. I don’t agree with significant portions of her objective philosophy, that is, I don’t buy it hook, line and sinker, but...when she is right, she is right.
People can’t seem to get it through their heads that if Ayn Rand says the sky is blue, that you can accept that as truth without accepting her disdain of God and religion, or anything else.
If the fat slob Michael Moore proclaims the sky to blue, one gets the impression there are Freepers who would insist that you not accept that as a statement of fact simply because Michael Moore said it.
This aspect of FR disgusts me. I find something nearly as sinister in that thought process as I find in many aspects of liberalism.
