Trump attacks McCain: 'I like people who weren't captured'
Politico ^ | 07/18/2015 | Ben Schreckinger

Donald Trump might finally have crossed the line.

Appearing on Saturday at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa, the real estate mogul took his running feud with Arizona Sen. John McCain to a new level.

“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

The remarks, which came after days of back-and-forth between McCain and Trump, were met with scattered boos.

No fan of Juan here — but that is a really asinine thing to say.

Don’t worry, plenty of FReepers will still support this incompetent, unelectable buffoon.

I wouldn’t call him incompetent.

Unfortunately, McCain does seem to be electable, at least in Arizona. Or were you referring to the other guy?

You can be well aware of McCain’s liberalism, his abysmal record as a legislator, and his laughable Presidential candidacy while still respecting his service.

Foolish for Trump to start a fight over this.

it just gives his detractors something to use to divert attention from the serious issues they don’t want to talk about.

I would. The only thing he’s good at is turning his father’s billions into his own millions (and then lying about his lack of success).

McCain has used all the punches on his hero card. But, it wasn’t a very good thing to say, none the less. A lot of other really good men have been captured and I don’t mean Bergdahl.

What you don't like, Schreckinger, is that Trump says what he honestly thinks.

What you cannot comprehend is that people are starved for honesty.

So even if it is offensive--even if it is not politically correct--even if you don't like it--even if I don't like it--even if people don't agree with him--even if people don't like what he says--people crave honesty. And Trump gives it to them.

Honesty is what Trump thinks is true.

And DECENT PEOPLE ARE SICK AND TIRED OF LIARS!

How ‘bout we put it into context?

He was responding to McCain’s insult to EVERYONE who showed up to support Trump in Phoenix. You know? When he said that we were all ‘crazy’?

Trump was defending US against an anti-American, political RINO.

I can respect a man’s service to our nation and still call him out when he’s being an @$$.

John McCain is an @$$.

(I thank him for his service, but he can go pack sand now.)
