They lied and it took many years to get a confession out of them (that was not widely reported in the MSM). Alston and the other fellow both suffered serious enough wounds (Alston, head), to be sent to a major trauma field hospital in the Delta before being sent to Japan for further treatment, all before Kerry took over command of PC 94.
The rest of his crew was either against him or declined to make any statement.

Most vets don’t like Kerry and many just plain hate him for his self-promotion and lies.
