I don’t know whether anyone else has continued to follow this case, but here’s an update...
The autopsy report was released, and it’s really horrible. I won’t post a link to that story.
But, here’s some other news: A judge ruled that the 16yo can be tried as an adult. Also, the 18yo may be facing the death penalty.
