“Send in the military!”
Because it worked so well in Iraq, let’s do it Iran!
Apples and oranges.
Just because we had to learn a lot of lessons the hard way in Iran doesn’t mean that we should retreat in the face of real enemies.
I would argue that our current set of experienced military leaders are far better equipped for warfare in Iran, thanks to hard experience in Iran and Afghanistan.
Hiding under the covers and hoping somebody else will protect us isn’t an option. Grow a spine..
In January 1981 Iran was VERY worried they may be subject to an invasion at almost a moment’s notice. They had nothing to fear from the previous President, Jimmy Carter, but it took them abut six hours after Ronald Reagan was sworn in, to begin the release of the US Embassy hostages that had been held for some 444 days by then.
Even the THOUGHT the US Military might be on the way was enough to strongly motivate the ayatollahs. They were almost abjectly circumspect towards the US for many years after.
The fact that Saddam Hussein was pounding on their western borders was also a major distraction for them at the time.
Actually it worked very well in Iraq until Obama gave the country to his Muslim buddies.
It may have a better outcome with a CINC that will allow our warriors to actually fight to win w/o being deemed war criminals and murderers for every enemy taken out....
