WOW! Color me shocked that the Elitists all band together to attack the lone Populist.

We need to find a term other than "Populist" for Ted Cruz and his ilk.

"Populism" has been around since the 1890's, famously associated with William Jennnings Bryant and his "Cross of Gold" speech.

1 : a member of a political party claiming to represent the common people; especially often capitalized : a member of a United States political party formed in 1891 primarily to represent agrarian interests and to advocate the free coinage of silver and government control of monopolies

Note that Populism is not connected with "the common people", it is also connected with a powerful central government working in behalf of the common people in order to control monopolies.

I have often referred to Populism as "the last refuge of the little man...who has given up".

This is the kind of Populism that the Democrats talk about and stand for. But it isn't what you're referring to...or what Ted Cruz stands for.
