Doc John Lesko served with me at USNH Quantico in 1968-69 and went on to serve with the 3rd MARDIV in the northern area of I Corps, where some serious stuff happened. He was wounded in action and survived the War. We remained in contact until his recent passing. We shared many a drink and song at the Globe & Laurel in Quantico where we were among Major Spooner's earliest customers, and returned there when we got back from 'Nam. When we called each other on the phone, we would usually greet each other with song - "Santy Anno", "Haul Away Joe" or some other Clancy Brothers song.

Doc John was a good man, a competent Corpsman, and a great Patriot.

I miss him dearly.

Must retire for the evening –

already mounts the parapet.
