‘Where on the island? Still have a brother there.’

As do I - he lives in Calverton - as you may know is way out on the island.
I was raised in Huntington from age 3 to about 12. Then Centerport for a year. All these places my parents rented.
Then my dad bought our first house, in Plainview.
Aside from the farmers (Long Island potatoes - anyone remember)??! and dairymen, we were the 3rd family to move in a new development (called tracts here in Ventura County, CA).
We were desperate to move, but there was no electricity hooked up, so somehow the salesman had electricity strung from the model house, down the street to our house! Street wasn’t paved either.
I was bussed, as were others, to Hicksville High School. (Hicksville is named after a man named ‘Hicks’)
Two or three years later, my brother was bussed to Oyster Bay High School, Oyster Bay, as Hicksville High was maxed out due to kids from Levittown, before Levittown had high schools. Mr. Levitt was the builder, going on to then build in Pennsylvania.
Because of the increased population, Hicksville High had freshmen and sophomores attend school from about 1 to 5pm, and juniors and seniors attended from 8am to noon.
Even with this talk of increased population, there was (only) about 160 graduates in my class.
We were the last class to graduate from that campus, as a new Hicksville High School was built just a few blocks away.
Sooooo, the first Hicksville High School became a Junior High, now called Middle School in some regions of the USA.

You now know more about Long Island than you ever asked!!!
OHHHH - one more thing - - singer Billy Joel attended Hicksville High but didn’t actually graduate. The principal awarded him an honory degree. I was not at that ceremony, having moved to MD, NM, and then Calif. about 46 years ago - the week man walked on the moon!!!
My head now hurts from dredging up facts and dates - !!!
