In the first Civil War the urban factory workers of the North defeated the rural country boys of the South. This was despite the South having most of the best military commanders of the time. Military skills were less important than manufacturing capacity.

In the same way, the next Civil War may demonstrate the superiority of liberal “hipster” computer programmers from the coasts over the conservative residents of the “gun friendly” South, Midwest, and Rocky Mountains states. The next war may end up being won by drones and robots and the people who design, make, and program them.
