Planned Parenthood Applauds Trump’s Support For ‘Good Aspects’ Of Group
Daily Caller ^ | 8/11/15 | Derek Draplin

Posted on 08/11/2015 4:30:44 PM PDT by markomalley

Planned Parenthood applauded Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Tuesday following his most recent comments about the group, saying to cut off federal funding is just one of several “extreme positions that are way too far outside the mainstream for even him to take.”

On Monday, Trump told CNN’s Chris Cuomo that before defunding Planned Parenthood, he would “look at the good aspects” of the organization if he were elected president, but referred to the group as an “abortion factory.”

“The biggest problem I have with Planned Planned is the abortion situation,” the real estate mogul told Cuomo. “I mean, it’s like an abortion factory, frankly.”

“I would look at the individual things that they do, and maybe some of the things are good and maybe, I know a lot of the things are bad, but certainly the abortion aspect of it should not be funded by government,” Trump continued.

But despite Trump referring to Planned Parenthood as an “abortion factory,” the organization praised Trump for changing his “extreme positions” about abortion and defunding the group.

“Donald Trump seems to have realized that banning all abortions, shutting down the government, and defunding Planned Parenthood are extreme positions that are way too far outside the mainstream for even him to take,” spokesman Eric Ferrero said, according to The Daily Beast.

“We hope that the rest of the GOP field will wake up and reconsider their extreme and unpopular positions on defunding preventive care, abortion bans, and the other economic issues that women and their families care about,” Ferrero continued.

TheDC reported Trump’s comments to Cuomo indicate a considerably softer opinion than in an interview with Hugh Hewitt last weak, when the mogul agreed that it would be worth shutting down the government in order to defund Planned Parenthood.

In 1999, Trump said he was “strongly for choice,” but last Thursday during the Republican presidential debates, he addressed his change of heart, saying, “since then, I’ve very much evolved,” and that, “I am very, very proud to say that I am pro-life.”

If you want to see it for yourself, here's a video starting about 6:15 and going at 7:15. He keeps digging a hole. He says that he's sure they do some things properly and good. (6:41)

He alsowon't say life from the moment of conception. He also revalidates that he likes the exceptions of "rape, incest, or life and health"

There are some very questionable statements from Trump. During the debate, I believe he said that the single payer healthcare works well for Canada and Europe??

I support Ted Cruz’s position on the matter.

However, it should be noted that trump’s position is at least harsher than the GOP’s position on PP. They support all of it, and will fund all of it.

The GOPe media is cracking me up. Oh noes. Trump said he wanted to defund abortion but take a look at some good things that they may do for women. (The statement is actually a political winner.)

Same GOPe that never wants to even mention abortion.

Same GOPe that has never defunded Planned Parenthood and actually had the power to.

Same GOPe that adores the Bushes (yet W would not even sign a petition in 2000 to defund Planned Parenthood if elected and Jeb sits on a board connected to PP).

Spare me the fake outrage.

There are some good aspects of PP, but then again, Hitler apparently got the trains to run on time. When my wife and I were very young and poor, PP provided free birth control (NOT abortions). At the time, I remember how they said every baby should be planned. Ideally, that’s true. However, any number of other organizations could provide free birth control. PP pushes abortion. The evil they do far outweighs the good in my mind, plus I don’t think government should be in the charity business. If PP is so good, let the leftists support it with private donations.

He made a very poor statement there. He showed he does not understand that government funding cannot go for abortion NOW. But by funding they have the doors open and can do abortions so makes no difference.

He gave them fuel now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I see. So an evil organization does do some "good things" so it should continue to receive taxpayer funding vs. giving that money (if it is to be given) that can provide the same services minus the evil activities as well.

What a joke. Trump has praised single-payer healthcare in Canada and elsewhere saying it "works well", gave a stern lecture to conservatives about "taking care of everyone" ("get used to it, conservatives!" as though conservatives want everyone to die), among other things - and now defends Planned Parenthood and wins the praises of this evil organization. And you all defend even this...

They don’t do much besides killing babies. Well, they do promote risky sex to kids in public schools I guess

Good play. TY

BTW, the GOPe and the GAME CHANGE people got together to pile on Sarah Palin. The company that did PR on GAME CHANGE was SDKKnickerbocker.

Same people who are doing the current Planned Parenthood PR campaign!

This is a Uniparty attack on Trump.

Trump agreeing with the GOPE is a GOPE attack on Trump.

That is some weird logic

All the rich leftists need to put up. If they think handing out freebies is a good thing, let THEM pay for it. The abortion acolytes love Planned Parenthood? Why can’t the abortionists support it with their own $$$?

If something is worth doing, charity wise, why does “charity” for these folks always mean making taxpayers pay?

Now that he is leading in the polls, he probably thinks that he can be less of a "campaign conservative".

As long as he gave it to Megyn Kelly, Graham, and that univision guy, everything is ok.

Yep. The irony is the GOPe actually wants its candidates to sound like Trump on this issue (pro life & pro woman), if anyone has followed politics for the past 15 years.

But because it's Trump they have to act outraged. It's all a game.

Summed up nicely here...

And we wonder why people are deeply alienated from politics? First, let’s just tell the truth: Approximately 98 percent of the professional politicians, pundits, and consultants embroiled in the conversation over Trump’s comments about Kelly, in which he may or may not have said that her tough questions at Thursday’s GOP debate were due to menstruation, are most assuredly not “offended” or “outraged” by his words. Quite the opposite: In the political world, there is something like an electric shock of glee that passes through the community when someone says something “outrageous.”

Controversy is energizing. Consultants, candidates, and pundits immediately begin working the angles — how can they exploit the latest gaffe, the latest misstatement, the latest offense against decency to advance their candidate or their cause? Outrage is a tool, the means to accomplish the ends of personal and political advancement.

Trump said he is Pro-Life in the same way Ronald Reagan was Pro-Life.

Not the same as the GOPe.

Ping.

"There are some good aspects of PP, but then again, Hitler apparently got the trains to run on time."

Interesting, that you brought that up.

The man behind Donald Trump's run
Ben Schreckinger and Cate Martel
7/22/15
Greg Moore, who replaced him as AFP’s New Hampshire director, said his old boss excels at the “blocking and tackling” of political agitation.

“He always made sure the ‘i’s are dotted and ‘t’s are crossed,” said Moore. “I assure you the trains will run on time.”
