Trump: US needs president with Ivy League 'mindset'
The Hill ^ | 08/13/2015 | Mark Hensch

GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the nation needs a president with an Ivy League education.

“I went to an Ivy League school,” he said on “The Hugh Hewitt Show.” “I was an excellent student at the Wharton School of Finance, which is the best in the world, one of the hardest to get into in the world, maybe the hardest, but maybe one of the hardest to get into, even back then.”

“That’s the kind of thinking our country needs, that mindset,” Trump added. “The fact is, that’s the kind of mindset or thinking we need to beat China on trade. They’re killing us.”

Cruz has the right idea - don’t criticize Trump. Allow him to hang himself, which he is doing (partially socialized medicine, OK w/ most of PP, favors progressive taxation, believes the “smart people” should run the country). Just sit back & enjoy the show.

Personally, I think the last thing we need are Ivy Leaguers in government, esp. the State Department. We have too many already and the ones currently in the government the source of much of the anti-American sentiment withing the Federal Government.

The Donald is wrong on this one. We have had an unbroken string of Ivy League presidents since GHWB up to Obama. How has that worked out for us?

And who was that guy that went to some obscure school. What was it called. Oh, yeah, Eureka College. The nation fell apart and the economy tanked with the graduate of that school. Right?

A real business mindset yes, but is that Ivy League?

I get he is bragging, but Obama could put that all to shame I am sure by releasing his College records and writings. :-)

No. The Ivy Leaguers have gotten us into the mess we have now.

We need something more like an Eisenhower mindset.

I want a bunch of engineers running the country. That idea doesn’t ever seem to gain a lot of ground, though.

Will is the epitome of snobby, elitist, country club, Rockefeller, establishment, liberal Republicans. This pretentiousness arrogant ivy league snottiness has worn out it’s welcome on the rest of the country especially real conservatives who have watched these self-important ivy league snots destroy the country the last 75 yrs.

This article illustrates clearly why there is a chasm in the Republican Party.

After the negative thing HH had to say I though Trump would insist HH recuse himself as a debate moderator.

I wouldn’t go on HH show.

Way back when the WWF had a wrestler DDP diamond DALLAS PAIGE. I THINK TRUMP SHOULD BE DIAMOND DONALD TRUMP, PAIGE HAD A FINISHING MOVE THE DDT LIKE DIAMOND DONALD TRUMP

TRUMP USED THE DDT ON PERRY, GONE, ON ME GYN “CROWLEY” KELLY AND SHE IS ON AN UNSHEDULED VACATION.

WHEN DIAMOND DONALD DOES THE DDT ON YOU HE KO’S YOU

“He loves to talk and talk and talk and talk.”

Not always. He often has to wait long periods of time for the applause to die down.

“one of the hardest to get into, even back then.”

Is he trying to say Universities shouldn’t just accept anybody? They should be hard to get into.

"Looking good Billy Ray!"

I love how Trump is not afraid to say anything and doesn't run every utterance through handlers and focus groups. I also love how every statement that Trump makes gets people's panties in a twist.

Maybe when all is said and done, we won't have to all walk on eggshells anymore out of fear of offending somebody.

By the way, one should not have to be embarrassed or even modest about attending the Wharton School of Finance and having an Ivy League education. I'm tired of a culture that thinks success is a bad thing.

The U.S. needs an educated people in the federal government with a CONSTITUTIONAL and FREE MARKET ECONOMY mindset to shrink the feds down to about 1/5 its size and stuff it back into its constitutional cage where it belongs. The feds should be passive except when it comes to top defense and intelligence in dealing with imminent and potential foreign threats.

It may not happen all at once or under the same guy, but it needs to happen, if not all under Trump, then under Trump and the next guy (maybe Cruz).

“MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN”. What REALLY made America great wasn’t government but the FREEDOM of the AMERICAN PEOPLE to build their lives as they saw fit.
