Not frickin surprising. The cost of an education is absurdly expensive.

The problem — most parents and students do not look at the cost of education frugally. So what if it costs $12000 a year for a kid to live on campus, so what if tuition is many times that. We'll just borrow the money, they say.

And of course, if you can't afford it, the “government will help you.”

A lot of these kids should be going to a trade school. There are many good middle class jobs out there.

(at least until the markets someday puke up the fake money and interest rates skyrocket)
