Why do you say that?
Cruz showed very little understanding of the plight of Christians in the Middle East at a meeting with a group of them. He offended them with a claim that “Israel is the best friend Christians have in the Middle East.” The fact is that the Ba’athist regimes, both that overthrown in Iraq by US invasion and that now under siege in Syria with the US, IS and Turkey all hostile to its continuation, thuggish though those regimes were and are, have been the most supportive of Christians’ continued existence in the Middle East.
This misstep on Cruz’s part is the main reason I’m only generally supportive of Cruz’s candidacy, rather than all-in for it like a lot of FReepers.
Ted Cruz appeared at a conference about saving Middle Eastern Christians last year and basically insulted them and told them to jump off a bridge over differences of opinion about Israel.
It was a calculated stunt to kick people who are being genocided in the teeth in order to suck up to a handful of billionaire donors who also happen to be amnesty and open borders fanatics.
