Cruz would be a far better Supreme Court justice, preferably the chief justice. His conservative beliefs would be the gift that keeps on giving.
Yours was a persuasive post and I listened to you. Something for me to remember. Thnx.
You have to ask yourself, IMHO, what the proper strategy is for naming a VP. Constitutionally, the choice of VP should be made to unify the country (hence, the incentive to not name a VP from the presidential nominee's own state). Apart from the specific stricture in the 12th Amendment, the usual procedure is to nominate a VP from the opposing faction of the party. Reagan considered nominating Ford, and settled on Bush. Eisenhower nominated Nixon. My bet would be that if Trump wins, and has an arrangement with Cruz, it would result in a nomination to SCOTUS for Cruz. Much as wed like to se Cruz as POTUS, every conservative would IMHO celebrate a Justice Cruz as much as a VP Cruz - if not more so.
Yes it would not shock me if Prez Trump put Cruz at AG and/or SCOTUS.
Romney won a lot of states by plurality, that is he got less than 50% of the vote, but the most of the candidates. Because the winner gets Bonus delegates he eventually got over the number to nominate. But Romney was getting about 40% in those wins. Not sure if Trump marches through getting 25% of the vote and first place in state after state, if he goes into the convention with enough to win.
Maybe we end up with a brokered convention. I don't think he wins the nomination in that scenario.
I defer to your experience, Jack. Many of us forget that this contest is a state by state contest and that there are delegate assumptions already in place about how states will fall, even if no candidates had yet announced.
When Trump moves through the calendar and begins to rally the blacks and Hispanics, I expect him to inspire many. We will just have to see how that inspiration translates into votes. The truth and leadership in the truth is something the human soul recognizes regardless of race, creed or color, enough that perhaps it can surprise us and effect a positive outcome in these toss up states. Thanks for the reminders.
Is it possible that Democrats, posing as independents or Republicans, are telling pollsters they favor Trump.
