Well it was still there in 92.

Don’t be that the few years later is that you mention.

Yes it was scored differently, so were the runs, and sit ups, and push ups.

Not so the field and academic portions of ranger school.

Retired is the key. Do you really believe Obamas’ military has the same standards as the one you served under?

I wish it did.

I thought that if you pass the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP) course, you get put in the Ranger Regiment. After that, selected NCOs and officers can go to Ranger School.

And.....you don’t have to be a Ranger to go to (and graduate from) Ranger School.

Unfortunately, the political agenda has just cast a huge shadow over what should be a great accomplishment for these women. (yes, I consider them brave and tough for going through the course.) — There will now always be a pall over their achievement with people, especially graduates of Ranger School, questioning whether they passed because the President wanted them to.

Lol, I am sure these women are tough, but this is like a participation award.

Unfortunately, it is our national security at stake. PC has no place in our military. Not, if we are to survive.

I don’t know anything about Ranger School, so I can’t comment on that topic. I can relate my personal experiences in my 20 year naval career, however. The o-course was there when I graduated, it was not when I subsequently revisited the Naval Academy which I was thinking was in the mid-80s after I was married.

I thought the same thing when I read it, but then I started thinking about lady American Ninja Warriors contestants who run the same obstacle course as men. Two have gone to the finals (if I rightly recall).

Again ...
I can confirm for a fact it was there in the late 80s and early 90s.

And my sources regarding these ladies’ performance at Benning are solid. I trust them. No quarter given.

Believe what you will.

You see the Rangers, Air Force PJs, Seals, Delta Force etc, are the very best of the best. The very best of the best men.

Of the four you specifically mention, Ranger training is the easiest.

I don’t get the point of having them go through all of that, several times, announcing that they passed, awarding them the tab, and then cutting them out of joining the regiment.

Graduating from Ranger School is not an automatic entry into the Ranger Regiment. Passing Ranger School allows wearing of the Ranger Tab. Most graduates return to their original unit after graduation

Many of the members of the Ranger Battalions have never been to Ranger School but rather have passed the 8 week Ranger Assessment and Selection Program. All members of the Ranger Battalions are Airborne qualified.

Airborne qualification is not a requirement to attend Ranger School.

Don’t know, don’t really care. Again, I can only relate what I have personally experienced.

I also remember this incident:

I know something about Ranger school - it takes gurls at least 3 times to pass.

Those up the chain of command don’t want their promotion train halted.

All I know is that if orders come from up high that X amount of women will graduate from any course then argument time is over and standards better be stretched to and sometimes past the limit. Some officers can resign but enlisted men are stuck with it.

Bunch of horse crap, they keep letting them go til they passed, not to mention speaking from experience, they are not subject to the same things as the men.

Leave women out of the combat arms, they don’t belong there for a myriad of reasons.

Ranger School is a Leadership program, graduation from the Ranger Course has nothing to do with selection to serve in the Ranger Regiment, although it is a de facto requirement for officers. It is not a prerequisite for enlisted soldiers.

The conditions for the Ranger course includes on pushing students beyond their limits of physical and mental endurance. These women very likely met these conditions even if they did not reach the physical exertions of most if not all of the male students. The question is did they perform well when pushed beyond their limits. The Army will say that they did. Their fellow Ranger students will know the truth and we will hear some reports, but no one except those who were there will really know what happened.

The major danger of this achievement is that the political crowd’s agenda will demand that women be integrated into infantry, Ranger, armor, and Special Forces units and employed in these units in combat. That would be a mistake as combat requires an absolute level of physical capability whereas Ranger School can be adjusted to adapt to relative limits. Women in the combat arms will get soldiers killed, both women and men. But, politicians have proven to be very good at getting soliders get killed for nothing more than making politicians looking good.

*facepalm *

They didn’t achieve anything than being pushed through for being women.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, women don’t belong in the combat arms.

“But even as the two new female graduates will be the first women allowed to wear the prestigious Ranger Tab on their uniforms, they still are not allowed to try out for the elite 75th Ranger Regiment, a Special Operations force that remains closed to women and has its own separate, exhausting requirements and training.”
