1,300 teen girls as young as 13 got ‘contraceptive counseling’ in Seattle schools

SEATTLE, Washington, August 18, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – Intrauterine devices, long-term arm implants, and the Pill are being passed out for the asking to girls as young as 13 in Seattle schools, without parental consent.

In fact, the number of middle and high school girls in Seattle who got long-acting reversible contraceptives like IUDs doubled in the last year due to efforts of the school system.

Because Washington State law allows minors access to birth control without parental permission, children as young as 12 can get IUDs implanted without parents' knowledge.

The Seattle City Council received an update from the county health department on the student contraceptive program. At least 1,293 high school students received contraceptive counseling, with an untold number receiving arm implants, IUDs, and the Pill.

Additionally, 49 junior high kids received the same contraceptive counseling, and four of them received an arm-implanted long-acting contraceptive device.

The school-based birth control dispensaries, called "health centers," not only dispense contraceptives, but also treat various injuries and health issues of students. They are run by private organizations but are funded by tax dollars through a Families and Education Levy.

The use of IUDs raises concerns, as some women experience dangerous and life-threatening side effects from them, including perforation of the uterus, pelvic inflammatory disease, and ectopic (tubal) pregnancies. The IUD may also gravitate from the uterus to the uterine wall or abdomen, causing infection and requiring difficult surgery to remove.

It also shows a lack of respect for the parents. Why do parents send their kids to schools that have absolutely no respect for them or their kids, or don’t they care one way or the other?

The schools are probably shielded from legal action if anything goes wrong.

as long as there is no pregnancy involved, so what. Kids have been having sex since we started walking on two legs.

Level head thinking, fully support the thought. Be careful with that line of thinking though. It is sometimes not well received here.

>> This goes way beyond education, they clearly WANT these children to have sex.

Or population control.

So, you SUPPORT schools implanting 13 year old girls with IUDs without their parents consent or knowledge based on the theory that she will probably have sex anyway?

You believe that the solution to immorality is to make it EASIER to be immoral, is that about right?

Many children are going to also experiment with drugs, alcohol and smoking. Should schools also provide pot, vodka and cigarettes for any 13 year old who wants them?

Let me guess, you're more of a libertarian and you think that social conservatives need to just shut up, would that be accurate?

Stupid post. And your comment about parenting doesn’t rehabilitate it.

I don’t know how parents can cope with everything that is working against them today. It’s beyond belief.

His perspective regarding the upbringing of children/young teens was not that of a conservative, imho.

“As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.”

Consider the probability that at least some of those pushing this evil believe that there is a God (Whom they resent), a heaven that they consciously reject, a Lucifer or Satan whom they willingly serve and a hell where they hallucinate that they will be rulers. They know that most of these young people will not consciously adopt their desire for hell. If the program succeeds, however, as it surely will, many of these young people will adopt social habits and amorality as their basic principle and, upon their respective deaths and judgments, those now young people will go straight to hell.

That is the goal of at least SOME of those pushing the program and that is certainly Lucifer's goal.

I have tragic friends, D and K, very materially successful, members of the leisure class, who were brought up Catholic (my Church) but became fashionable intellectuals and went over to the dark side, actively desiring hell. They are competent, accomplished, very well educated and civilized in worldly ways, generous. Fortunately they are not involved in education. I keep them always in my prayers and ask anyone reading this to do likewise.

When people think that genital pleasure is an unlimited good, while reproduction is a not-good, this is what you get.

If genital pleasure is an unlimited good, why should it be limited by age, marital status, choice of cooperating parties, etc.? If reproduction is not-good ... even double-plus ungood ... why should any method of preventing it be condemned or even discouraged?

As long as our society operates on the premise that genital pleasure is good, no matter what, and reproduction is mostly or always bad, nothing will change.

Christ provides a way to navigate the otherwise intrinsically evil existence that battles life in every possible aspect.

I will keep your friends in my prayers — though, it is not an easy task to pray for those that willingly disregard the value of human life.

Thank you! They also willingly reject their own salvation but God has the capacity for infinite graces and can soften even the hardest hearts.

One of Christ's navigation maps is: Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

God bless you and yours!

Thanks! You have the vehemently vivid verbiage and all the fascinating life experience. I just sit in my little bubble and try to distill diverse phenomena down to some basic principles.
