Is Iran Trying to Blow Up the Nuclear Deal?
August 20, 2015 | Jim Hanson

The recent and ongoing actions of the Iranian leadership could easily lead you to believe they don’t want the U.S. Congress to approve the nuclear deal. It may seem counterintuitive, but there are a number of plausible reasons this might make sense to the Iranians.

First, the Iranians attained almost every concession they wanted in negotiations such as removing sanctions and a clear path to removal of the embargo on conventional weapons and even ballistic missiles when the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was approved by the United Nations Security Council. The line at the Iranian Minister of Commerce’s office is very long as companies from around the world jockey for a piece of the action in the newly opened Iranian market.

Second, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is already working to inspect and certify that the Iranian nuclear program has no military component and they will do so shortly. This might seem at odds with the Obama administration’s tales of a rock solid inspection regime that would be the envy of any Marine Drill Instructor. But, the Iranians are not on board with that intrusive inspections plan according to a top adviser to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Ali Akar Velayati, on Al Jazeera on July 31.

“Regardless of how the P5+1 countries interpret the nuclear agreement, their entry into our military sites is absolutely forbidden.”

The IAEA is required to submit their report based on inspections they actually conduct. If they cannot even go to the military sites where Iran’s military components are located, they will have to certify they found no evidence of them. That certification is the trigger for the removal of sanctions on military arms and ballistic missiles. You can bet Iran has a shopping list of death and destruction ready when that happens.

Third, and speaking of shopping trips,

General Qassem Suleimani, head of Iran’s al Qods Force took a recent trip to Russia despite a travel

ban by the UN due to his confirmed terrorist activities.

Gen. Suleimani was a frequent visitor to Iraq while the U.S. was fighting Operation Iraqi Freedom. He supplied rockets, explosively formed projectiles and other tools of war to Shia militias who used them to kill more than 500 American troops. Sending

Gen. Suleimani to Russia, likely to discuss Iran’s imminent weaponry purchases, while the U.S. Congress is still actively considering whether to approve the nuclear deal, is blatant disrespect by the Iranian regime.

Fourth, Supreme Leader Khamenei, who has the final say on this deal and all matters of state, has been ramping up his pronouncements of Death to America and Israel. He even released a book called Palestine (exclusive excerpts translated here) that collects all of his best speeches on the destruction of Israel and the United States. Ayatollah Khamenei has also been identified by one of his top as opposing the deal in a major Iranian newspaper. If he says no deal, there is no deal.

Fifth, Iran still considers the United States the Great Satan: no amount of diplomatic tea-sipping or signing bonus cash from this deal has changed that fact.

The deal was enshrined at the United Nations and Iran now rejoins the community of nations. With that accomplished, they can brag they dominated the U.S. at the negotiating table; take their winnings and cash out via lifted UN sanctions; and, hang President Obama out to dry by actions demonstrating they cannot, and never could be, trusted.

Congress should vote “No” on the JCPOA due to its complete failure to accomplish any of the goals the president claimed for it. A legitimized Iranian nuclear weapons greatly increases the likelihood of war in the Middle East. The Saudis, United Arab Emirates and other Gulf Arab states won’t sit idly by and let their enemy, the Iranians, amass this catastrophic capability. They will also pursue nuclear weapons to protect themselves from a nuclear-armed Iran: The Deal is a surer path to war than the status quo.

The really painful part of this could be that the Mullahs got everything they needed or even wanted; and managed to diminish the United States even more in the process. The P5(+1) got empty promises; a basically intact Iranian nuclear enrichment program they can’t legitimately inspect; and secret side deals they can’t even read. President Obama believed showing the hand of friendship to this sworn enemy during the negotiating process would change their worldview. He was wrong and the Mullahs are laughing

Don't let the Mullahs have the last laugh

It is a deliberate series of revelations that show just how contemptuous they are of Obama and Kerry.

They have no fear that the Obama wussies will cancel the deal.

Obama and Kerry would give Iran’s Mullah’s the bullets to shoot the four American hostages, if that’s what it took to make Iran happy ....

They have their work cut out for them. It appears that the Senate is about to approve a deal that nobody but Zero and Lurch really want.

No. They're just amusing themselves watching obama and kerry bow and kowtow to their every demand. They know that no matter what they do...obama and kerry will do anything to keep the deal 'alive'. There's no limit to how much they debase themselves and this country...they want the deal.

The iranians are having a huge laugh!

Wouldn’t it be something if our craven Senate approved the deal and then Iran rejected it?

Why wouldn’t they?

There are no consequences for them doing so.

No he didn't! The iranian regime supplied those weapons...the same regime obama accepted as his partners! Suleimani isn't a rogue state...he's a duly authorized officer in iran's military. He's a dirty bastard alright, but not as dirty as obama's partners!

You may have meant that as hyperbole but I'm convinced it's true. Any honorable administration would have made their release a prerequisite for negotiations. But not obama and kerry...for them it was 'too complicated'.

There is no deal, except the U.S. lifted all sanctions against Iran. Never was any "deal".

Too late. The brainless UN buffoons already sign it and there is no way Obonzo and Old Horseface are going to let you ragheads back out now. A nuclear Iran is their legacy. They are counting on the raggies to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth faster than Hillary wiping a server without a rag.

First, the Iranians attained almost every concession they wanted .......when the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was approved by the United Nations Security Council.

Did nobody else notice this?

SINCE WHEN does any organ of the UN approve international agreements to which the US is a party, without the consent of the Congress?

Since when did the US expatriate the power to sign treaties and approve international agreements?

Obama could have vetoed this, but didn't: the US still has its Security Council veto.

And by the way, it seems the writer, and so far just about every commenter here, disagrees that Obama is a deliberate traitor who is purposefully leading the United States to the nuclear destruction promised by the Persian camel-rapists.

Anybody think about that one? You know he and all his intimates hate our guts. Where do you think the limits are, of what they would do to us or enable others to do, given what the Nazis did to the Jews and the Communists did to the so-called kulaks </off cant, /off Communist smear> ?

Given what we know about Obama's background and education, can there be any doubt that his "legacy" will be a megacidal takedown of the People of the United States?

No, we didn't -- the UN Security Council did, and now the sanctions regime is toast.

Even if Obama stopped a hot one to the forehead tomorrow and Joe Biden stepped into a phone booth and ripped off his white shirt to reveal his Kryptonian "S" underneath, there is nothing anybody in the States can do now to keep European businessmen, already lining up around the corner, from vaporizing the "sanctions" and selling the Iranians everything they want.

Sanctions were killed by the cleptocrats in the UN.

Which means that the UN General Secretariat and Security Council theoretically now have the power, since Obama gave it to them (and the MSM didn't tell anyone because they approve), to overrule US foreign policy measures.

How about that one?

Kaslin, you called it right that Obama and F'in Kerry are traitors. They are.

It’ll probably end up with some shooting, bombing, you know the usual stuff...

But our side is going to have to take a bloody nose first, before we do anything about it...

And even then, this particular muslim in Chief is going to hem and haw, probably throw out the usual workplace violence thing that has worked pretty good in the past with the stupid people in this country...

Things are so unstable around the world, its not going to take much to tip the whole show into chaos...
