The only practical way he can deal with it is to not deport the illegal immigrants themselves, but deprive them of the illegal benefits and subsidies they are receiving.

Nonsense. Deportation of illegal aliens is part of the law. It will always be part of our laws. There is no country on earth that doesn't have deportation as part of its legal system. Illegal aliens have committed multiple violations of our laws including ID theft, working illegally, fraudulent use of SSNs, tax evasion, lying on employment forms, etc. Of course we can deport them or put them in jail.

If an illegal is deported and comes back, he, under the current law, has committed a felony and can be jailed for 2 years and stopped from entering this country for 10 years.

Yes, we can make life very unconfortable for the lawbreakers and force them to leave. It is the alternative to mass deportation, which no one thinks is a rational approach. Attrition thru enforcement will work as long as we secure our borders and set up a system to track and deport visa overstays.

I think mass deportation is in fact rational and do-able. It will take some time of course but it most certainly can, should, and MUST happen! We are a sovereign nation and we have laws. If we tolerate this invasion (albeit a relatively peaceful one) we are a conquered nation.
