It is way past time that this fossil is related to obscurity. That AZ voters have kept him in the Senate for THIRTY YEARS does not speak very highly of their intelligence.

Arizona has a tendency to repeatedly reelect sitting Senators well past their expiration date: Barry Goldwater and Carl Hayden, for example. If his opponent retains her lead and is determined by the GOP-E to be able to be absorbed into the Washington Borg, he is likely to be encouraged to retire. Maybe the new Interstate 11 will be named after him, or possibly a Navy vessel.
