I just recently took my annual force protection training. The emphasis used to be to hide and wait out an attack. Now the training says to fight. That's always been my plan. It looks like this Airman took his training seriously.

After subduing the attacker (and nearly losing his own thumb) he gave medial aid to victims. A1C Stone is with the Medical Operations Squadron at Lajes.

I had the same reaction when I took the Active Shooter training in June - they FINALLY say, “If armed, resist.” Really? Looks like that Navy Commander recruiter was ahead of us (well, most of us) on that one!
