I may be off target, but I happen to think that mental illness is caused by a spiritual problem - have you ever looked into the eyes of someone mentally ill? I used to work at a state hospital, and have looked into many of their eyes -

Could you elaborate? What did you see in their eyes that indicated a spiritual problem?

The eyes are the mirror of the soul. It’s hard to describe what I’ve seen - not always evil, but like someone else was living in there. The Bible talks about Jesus casting devils out of some who we would call mentally ill.
