Flanagan was a twofer on the EEOC’s “Privileged Species List”, homosexual and Black. He must have been really bad to have that all those TV outlets actually fire his government-protected butt. That’s sad when you think of all the talented graduates being churned out of universities across the fruited plain with degrees in Communication who can’t find a job in television and wind up waiting tables.
There comes a point where the risk of major payouts as a result of a workplace violence incident outweigh the risk of a major payout from an EEO suit. When that point is reached it’s the least-worse option to fire the guy and write the EEO payout off as a cost of doing business.
