Questioning Trump like wrestling an eel
Chicago Sun Times Press Reader ^ | 8/26/2015 | Roger Simon

On Sunday, ABC's George Stephanopoulos, an excellent interviewer, tried to break through the Trump persona and get some answers on something - anything! Stephanopoulos chose the sole plan listed under "Positions" on the official Trump website. It is Trump's plan for making Mexico pay for a wall on our southern border, deporting "criminal aliens" from the United States, and ending "birthright citizenship" among other complex, controversial and expensive programs. Stephanopoulos attempted to find out how Trump would carry out his plan. Specifically.

Did I say it was like wrestling an eel? It is more like punching a pillow.

"You have so many illegals. We don't even know how many," Trump said. "I hear 11 million. I hear 30 million. The government has no idea. We have lost control of our country." Specific enough for you? Stephanopoulos kept trying. He wanted fact's figures, hard numbers, real plans. Instead he got showmanship.

"George, its called management," Trump replied. The first thing we have to do is secure the border, but it's called management." ...

About six weeks ago, CNN's Anderson Cooper asked Trump whether President Obama was born in the United States. "I don't know. I really don't know," Trump replied. "I don't know why he wouldn't release his records." ...

(George, we can manage this through managerial methods which will use management in a managerial fashion to manage this. See? Duh!) /s.

(GOP candidates in 2016 are really going to love being asked (and they will be asked) what they have to say about the comments that Trump gave to CNN's Anderson Cooper. That will really help their election or reelection chances among independent voters after the primaries are over.) /s.

I don’t recall Stepinapileofit trying to nail down any “specific plans” from the hopey-changie dork.

The American media doesn’t ask questions, it conducts cross-examinations. Too many GOP candidates don’t realize this. Trump and Cruz do. FWIW, I prefer Cruz.

Trump takes interviews from anyone and everyone. You might not like his answers, but he does NOT dodge interviews. Lessee, who does? Hillary? Zero?

"criminal aliens"

The author puts this in quotes, as if it refers to something of questionable reality. This, plus his praise of Stephanopoulos, casts doubt on everything that follows.

George Stephanopoulos’s Gifts to Clinton Foundation Reinforce G.O.P. Doubts

But with his acknowledgment that he had given a significant sum to the Clinton Foundation, he found himself facing accusations that he was effectively trying to buy favor with his former employers as Mrs. Clinton seeks the presidency for a second time.

But you and others sure liked the polls from ABC news (where George is at)/WaPo in the past which gave good marks for Trump.

To Trump Mania people, ABC News, CNN, NYT, WaPo, and on and on are good when you want them to be and bad when you want them to be.

Liberal when you want them to be and not so liberal when you want them to be...

"The American media doesn’t ask questions, it conducts cross-examinations."

An excellent point, but I would make one change, i.e., " . . . doesn't ask questions of Republicans and conservatives, it . . . "

His answers to me seem to be "Yada, Yada, Yada........We build a wall. "Yada, Yada, Yada........We get jobs back from China.

They just don’t get that, thanks to their open hostility, this is the way non leftist politicians should have been responding to them for decades. They better get used to it ... cuz THIS is the “new normal”.
