Cruz: I Call Upon Every Believer...to Stand with Kim Davis
TedCruz.org ^ | 9/3/2015 | Ted Cruz

Posted on 09/03/2015 1:01:16 PM PDT by DaveyB

HOUSTON, Texas – U.S. Sen. Cruz, R-Texas, today released the following statement regarding the arrest of Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis:

“Today, judicial lawlessness crossed into judicial tyranny. Today, for the first time ever, the government arrested a Christian woman for living according to her faith. This is wrong. This is not America.

“I stand with Kim Davis. Unequivocally. I stand with every American that the Obama Administration is trying to force to chose between honoring his or her faith or complying with a lawless court opinion.

“In dissent, Chief Justice Roberts rightly observed that the Court’s marriage opinion has nothing to do with the Constitution. Justice Scalia observed that the Court’s opinion was so contrary to law that state and local officials would choose to defy it.

“For every politician — Democrat and Republican — who is tut-tutting that Davis must resign, they are defending a hypocritical standard. Where is the call for the mayor of San Francisco to resign for creating a sanctuary city — resulting in the murder of American citizens by criminal illegal aliens welcomed by his lawlessness?

“Where is the call for President Obama to resign for ignoring and defying our immigration laws, our welfare reform laws, and even his own Obamacare?

“When the mayor of San Francisco and President Obama resign, then we can talk about Kim Davis.

“Those who are persecuting Kim Davis believe that Christians should not serve in public office. That is the consequence of their position. Or, if Christians do serve in public office, they must disregard their religious faith–or be sent to jail.

“Kim Davis should not be in jail. We are a country founded on Judeo-Christian values, founded by those fleeing religious oppression and seeking a land where we could worship God and live according to our faith, without being imprisoned for doing so.

“I call upon every Believer, every Constitutionalist, every lover of liberty to stand with Kim Davis. Stop the persecution now.”

Notice it is ARRESTING. Not impeaching. There is a process for dealing with such an issue, and THIS IS NOT IT.

The Obamites know they are in control, and they are moving to consolidate their power.

Is that not leaning on Government officials to do what the people should be doing?

We can’t go wrong with a principled, pro-God man like Ted Cruz.

I’m proud to have him on my very short list of presidential candidates.

Cruz was TERRIFIC on Mark Levin’s radio show.

You’re on the wrong website.

I just love posters who think they get to determine who belongs here and who doesn’t.

I’ve been here longer than you, sonny boy.

Impeachment is the proper process for removing an elected official for refusal to perform legal (if immoral) procedures, not imprisonment.

Well said. Her attorney should be fighting hard to get this dispute into that realm, where it belongs. I think she would have a very good chance to prevail there. SCOTUS has voided Kentucky law, and another has not been written. How can she be out of compliance with nonexistent law?

The double standard is simply astounding. Imagine if she were muslim. Who honestly believes she would have been arrested?

Well electing people that know about the issue might be a good start. But very few seem to think that’s a good idea. They have their own Pillars of Styro event to attend to hope for change.

Probably because he can see clearly that ‘conservatives’ in the year 2015 have all the conservatism of a 1990 Democrat. AKA, ‘Not much to put ones trust or future in.’

It’s a lesser evil you see...no matter what. /s

Actions have consequences.

she should be re-assigned

She was elected by the people, not appointed by the judiciary.

for her beliefs and for taking a stand, however, she should have resigned rather than a court fight. In essense, it is the same as if I worked for the DMV and chose not to issue a license to a black or hispanic or a gay

Not true at all.

She should have checked with Miss Cleo before taking her position. If we don’t have religious freedom and freedom of conscience, then we have no freedom at all.

impeachment by the state legislature

Which they won't do because it would be political suicide in Kentucky.

This is a little off topic but related - why is everything leading to jail these days? Unpaid parking tickets, jail, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I stand by this woman's right to refuse but why does it lead to jail when she does? Why not being fired? Suspended without pay? I mean she must have a boss or some oversight over her?

Again, I want to say I don't want her being fired or jailed but why do we in the "land of the free" jail people so quickly and deprive them of their freedom?

I emailed the Houston PD this morning calling for the arrest of Mayor Parker.

I’m sure they will get right on it!

Well! Just damn! Jesus didn’t really have to hang on that cross did he? Who knew? And Daniel, in that lion’s den, pshaw! Shadrach, Meshack and Abednigo should have just bent those knees a bit to Baal and, presto, no furnace for them!

For those obtuse enough not to comprehend,(and I’ve learned that there are many) the above is extreme sarcasm.

Thankyou! Very informative, a good read. I also agree 100% with your tag line. Time is getting short for Americans to believe it.

Because the Left is moving to consolidate their gains, and this is how collectivists always deal with their enemies: first fines and social ostracism, then jail, then concentration camps, then extermination.

“But this is not the same as a baker who’s been in business for many years, etc. She’s in a public office, and has NOT been there for decades. She knew pretty much which way the wind was blowing and what the job would entail.”

And so should all Christians know which way the wind is blowing. This is no longer a free nation, especially for people of faith. There is going to be no place for us to live according to our faith. Our souls are in the balance.

The gays were never prevented from getting a marriage license. There were many places to get one without resistance. They were prevented from getting one from someone who didn’t want to participate. Likewise, the gays were never prevented from getting a cake; they were prevented from getting one from someone who didn’t want to participate. It was the Christians that were prevented from refusing to do something contrary to their beliefs. I don’t go to Muslim bakeries, why should I unless I simple wanted to provoke them? Religious accommodations are being made all over this nation, at great expense and inconvenience for Muslims; foot washing stations, etc. Davis did not want to prevent gays from marrying, only that her name not be on the certificate condoning something her faith and conscience could not. I’m sure something could have been worked out but she was meant to be an example.

Talk is easy. When this LGBT abomination comes to us personally, and it will, we will better understand I guess. As of this moment, the public school system is preparing to teach your child that this perversion of nature is good and acceptable. Who better to teach it than the perverts themselves? Are we ready for that. As of now, any pervert of any gender can enter any public restroom or gym facility he or she chooses, even if it’s only to oogle others(your daughter? your son? your wife? you?. We may not be ready but it’s here unless we stand and do something. But I think we would have done so already if we were going to. Cheering for a politician isn’t going to do or change anything.

You’ll notice that I quoted the Bible. I didn’t render an opinion.

If you think the Bible is wrong, you are part of a large crowd. But I’m just telling you what it says.
