In interviews, several savvy and typically confident Republican donors and strategists seemed puzzled about how to topple Mr. Trump, increasingly worried about the feelings he has stirred among the activist base and uneasy about the consequences for the party.................They better be worried...

Republican Party’s biggest donors and normally competing factions, all aimed at a single question: How can we stop Donald Trump?
....................................................

(1): Trump is not for sale!

(2): Trump can out last every candidate you throw at him because he has something your candidates don’t have!

(3): All the ‘road maps’ to get Jeb Bush in the Oval Office is a waste of your money and time!

(4): OUR votes are NOT for sale!

(5): Unless the GOPee is as dirty or dirtier than the DNC, then the pledge that Trump signed was like a piece of toilet paper we use after you get flushed down the toilet!

(6): If you mess with our VOTES in any way, we will shut down America ourselves!

So you take your ideas, and you know where to put them!

Maybe because he isn’t a GOPeahen wimpy milquetoast who is genuflecting at the mere thought of the Supreme Leader and All Around Dictator Bozzie Bamma the Wurst? Or maybe because he has a spine?

Trump won't be stopped. He's a ratings monster and the media knows folks will tune out if he's not around. They need the Trump. They rely on the Trump. There is no Trump alternative.

I have the feeling the very next Republican debate will make the Megyn Kelly gotcha questions look mild where Trump is concerned. The GOP-e is out to get Trump.

Notice how the entire emphasis in the article is to discuss the GOPe versus Trump. The candidates are just incidental distractions or, in some cases, paid off surrogates. It is the party against the Donald. It says it all as to the core important issue in the 2016 election. The Washington Cartel has to be destroyed!

From a previous post:

Here’s my take:

Let’s say Trump stays on top during the primaries, and they see the nomination in his grasp. Here are the options for the RNC/GOPe/RINOs or whatever you call them:

1. Pass a new rule to an open ballot at the GOP convention, then threaten every delegate with campaign fund freeze out if they cast a vote for Trump on the floor.

2. Start packing GOP caucuses with democrats (I suspect they’ll try this anyway)

3. IRS audit of Trump or his family’s holdings.

4. Swating of the Trump offices (if you don’t know what ‘swating is’, google it)

5. Someone or something represented by Gloria Alred (they always whip this card out when they are desperate. No doubt she’s on the bench waiting)

6. Deny Secret Service protection, drop itinerary details to your Central american or tango from team jihad currently climbing a southern fence.

7. Give Secret Service protection, and insert “contractors-for-hire” within. Lookup “Plausible Deniability”.

8. Cause a mass causality incident; blame Trump’s rhetoric.

9. Come up with a reason he can’t get a security clearance, then run with it.

10. If none of the above works and Trump wins the nomination, either run a RINO as 3rd party, or the whole GOPe endorses the democrat nominee.

Oh, and BTW: To the enemies of America who are no doubt reading this and may be getting ideas, the way the political and economic climate is these days, ANY of these scenarios happening would probably ignite a 2nd civil war.

just my $02.
jimjohn - out.

GOOD ... The more the GOPe, the RNCe and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce try to stop Trump, the more they try to trip him up, the more they try to smear him ... The higher his percentages go ... People know what is going on ... The old farts in the GOPe do not understand the power of the Internet and WebPolitical Media and Web Social Media ... The old foggies just do not get it. Every aspect of their agenda is instantly published and millions upon millions read it. They are of the same group that has no idea of the longevity of Internet collected and stored Video and Audio... They know it — BUT THEY JUST DO NOT FULLY GRASP IT ...

Article is 100% conjecture and rumor and 100% fact free. NYT will probably win a Pulitzer for this one, though.

There may or many not be a massive attack on Trump after labor day, but so far I’ve seen zero actual evidence such an attack is going to occur. Personally, I kind of doubt it. Latest poll shows Trump favored by 66% of GOP voters, has a 59/29 favorability rating, leading all demo groups, including male, female, young, old, moderate, conservative and liberal GOP members.

The GOPe would simply be committing suicide to attack a candidate like that. I know they’re stupid, but I don’t think that they’re THAT stupid.

I can't believe all the comments directed because of an article in the New York Times by a liberal writer (formerly of Salon) with no real sources. OF COURSE there are GOP consultants trying to stop Trump, dig up dirt and find ways to counter him effectively - they work for the other 15 candidates in the race. That is what campaigns do - Trump also trashes the other candidates. So what?

I suspect Trump can take the slings and arrows - and if he can't, we need to find out sooner rather than later because things won't get any nicer in the general election.

" perhaps donors to Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, or Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, might take the lead in financing a Trump takedown."

LOL for Cruz and unlikely to be a big Walker priority. Best for the latter two to bash Heb! and wait for Trump to eventually auger in.

"The Club for Growth, which has spent millions of dollars on feisty intraparty campaigns attacking Republican candidates who deviate from conservative economic orthodoxy"

There is NOTHING Conservative about the Club for Growth.

100% open borders. "Free Trade" that allows them to export jobs and import product with impunity, thereby depleting the Nation's Capital Stock and relegating it's population to serfdom whilst they continue to pay Congress to divert taxpayer dollars to them.

They are the very definition of Crony Capitalists and each and every one of them are enemies of the American People.
