Quiet conversations have begun in recent weeks among some of the Republican Partys biggest donors and normally competing factions, all aimed at a single question: How can we stop Donald Trump?
Republican strategists and donors have assembled focus groups to test negative messages about Mr. Trump. They have amassed dossiers on his previous support for universal health care and higher taxes. They have even discussed the creation of a super PAC to convince conservatives that Mr. Trump is not one of them. But the mammoth big-money network assembled by Republicans in recent years is torn about how best to defuse the threat Mr. Trump holds for their party, and haunted by the worry that any concerted attack will backfire. In phone calls, private dinners and occasional consultations among otherwise rivalrous outside groups, many have concluded that Mr. Trumps harsh manner and continued attacks on immigrants and women were endangering the partys efforts to compete in the general election. Yet after committing hundreds of millions of dollars to shape the Republican primary contest and groom a candidate who can retake the White House, the conservative donor class is finding that money even in an era of super PACs and billion-dollar presidential campaigns is a devalued currency in the blustery, post-policy campaign fashioned by Mr. Trump, driven not by seven-figure advertising campaigns but by Twitter feuds and unending free publicity.
So far, according to the Campaign Media Analysis Group and a Republican media buyer, there has barely been any advertising targeting Mr. Trump. Out of $90 million worth of ads reserved or bought in the Republican primary, just $1,300 has been spent attacking Mr. Trump an ad in Spanish that ran briefly in California that was sponsored by a Spanish-language television network.

Karl Rove, Chairman, I’ll bet...
....and if wishes were horses...beggars would ride.
The Democrats and most of the GOP are pro wrestling type of enemies. Lots of shouting and bluster for the chumps, but they are working from the same script, share a locker room after the "fight" and split the take close to 51%/49% with a little disagreement on who gets which share. Trump is off the script, doing real body slams and is working to expose the Political Wrasslin' League as a fraud. Thus he must be destroyed.
They have even discussed the creation of a super PAC to convince conservatives that Mr. Trump is not one of them.
I don't pretend that he is, but he is closer to me than the GOPe.
The complicit, hated, EXEMPT GOP imposed
gay marriage, imposed RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE/HillaryCARE
(leaving themselves EXEMPT, of course),
began the IRS attacks on conservatives,
and attacks against every conservative
from Gov. Palin to Mr. Cain,
and then -— after lying to get elected —
empowered Obama to,
with not so much documentation as a valid SS# or BC,
impose SECRET ObamaTRADE and nukes-for-Iran.
They make a big deal out of Trump signing the loyalty agreement, then they plot to stab him in the back.
Who knew this wouldn’t happen?
What gripes me is that they had no problem with McCain whatsoever.
Trump may be a lot of things, but he’s not in favor of arming and funding our terrorist enemies.
Doesn’t this prove he is incorruptable?
The easier path to take is to dangle lucrative previously untouchable global realestate opportunities in front of him.
...but that doesn’t seem to be succeeding, so they go for charater assasination.
What does that mean for “the pledge”?
Be careful mighty mouse GOPe, you’re messin’ with sasquatch.
This rightcheer, is exactly why I say Cruz cannot obtain the nomination in this party.
If Trump wasn’t in, Cruz would be getting this full court treatment.
I’d love to see a Trump/Cruz 2016 ticket, if for nothing else than that we can tell the GOPe to go screw off.
We went over your heads idiots.
Ditto that, and that IMO is why Trump has so much support.
What I don't get is those here who don't understand that aspect of it.
Trump is being supported because he is ripping the establishment a new one, not that he is a "conservative"
And people are seeing the “establishment” is both democrats and the gop-e.
Yep, exactly.
The GOPe can go to hell, just got my tickets to the Trump rally at the AAC in Dallas on the 14th, can’t wait.
Go DT!
Here’s a thought for the GOPe. Get on board the Trump train and ride it to victory. They will have plenty of chances to regain their loser status after the country is straightened out.

....................................................
(1): Trump is not for sale!
(2): Trump can out last every candidate you throw at him because he has something your candidates don’t have!
(3): All the ‘road maps’ to get Jeb Bush in the Oval Office is a waste of your money and time!
(4): OUR votes are NOT for sale!
(5): Unless the GOPee is as dirty or dirtier than the DNC, then the pledge that Trump signed was like a piece of toilet paper we use after you get flushed down the toilet!
(6): If you mess with our VOTES in any way, we will shut down America ourselves!
So you take your ideas, and you know where to put them!
(This post is meant for the writer of this article and not for anyone on this site)
They think they will win with Jeb Bush? Geez!
Maybe because he isn’t a GOPeahen wimpy milquetoast who is genuflecting at the mere thought of the Supreme Leader and All Around Dictator Bozzie Bamma the Wurst? Or maybe because he has a spine?
AMEN! DONE WITH THE GOPE!
Be afraid....be very afraid.
BWAHAHAHAHA
“Silly me. I thought the Democrats were the Enemy.”
You’re so right. McConnell, Boehner and company are truly concerned with the welfare of conservative Americans like you and me. It would be just awful if we didn’t show our appreciation by continuing to vote for them and their well meaning associates. Darn it, I am near tears just thinking how much we must hurt their feelings when we complain about them.
Not!
