The reinvention of Hillary Clinton almost certainly won’t work
Washington Post ^ | 9/8/15 | Chris Cillizza

My favorite line, though, is this one: "There will be new efforts to bring spontaneity to a candidacy that sometimes seems wooden and overly cautious."

Planned spontaneity!

Here's the thing: This reboot/reinvention/reincarnation/renaissance/reset almost certainly won't work. Because they never do.

Hillary Clinton has been running for or serving in office for the past 15 years. She spent the two decades before that by her husband's side as he rose from Arkansas governor to the presidency. This is not someone who is just getting her sea legs as to what sort of public persona she wants to give off. This is who she is.

They’ll keep “re-introducing her to the voters” until she either gets elected or drops dead.

I suspect it kills her to know what BJ has been able to pull off and how she is totally unable to duplicate that performance.

Or wears out the doorbell.

She is planning ANOTHER ‘reset’ button?

Yep its a crazy thing isn’t it?

Bill Clinton is a natural politician. He has the charisma and/or ability to connect with people. He enjoys the give and take of politics, giving speeches, doing debates, doing interviews.

None of that rubbed off on Hillary. She is clearly not any sort of natural politician.

Hillary is an arrogant cold fish, she’s a snob and and every other word she says is a lie.

You can’t change her unfavorables. If it wasn’t for her famous last name, would she be in contention for the Democratic nomination? Hell - NO!

As an elderly woman, her years do not wear well on her at all.

People are just sick of seeing her on TV.

I’m betting on a stroke or some other debilitating happenstance. Note the use of the term “happenstance”.

I still don’t hate Bill. I hate Hillary but not quite as much as I hate Obama.

Agreed. Bill is a much better chameleon that Hill. I used to have fun turning off the sound when he was on the TV. He was a fake.

until she either gets elected or drops dead...

I'd use the qualifier "melt" rather than "drop"

Her husband has charisma, star power and is a likable guy.

Three qualities Hillary doesn’t bring to the table.

Watching her in politics is like watching paint dry.

Oh and the novelty of a woman President has worn off for voters.

Reminds me of a girl I used to sing with. We pulled out a tune during a performance and she leaned over with a panicked expression and said, “I can’t remember the ad lib part!”. SMH.

I believe there’s a slight inaccuracy in the headline; I believe it’s supposed to read:

“The re-re-re-re-reinvention of Hillary Clinton almost certainly won’t work”

She and her advisers think people are stupid and they can be manipulated in seeing her for someone she isn’t.

That woman is an insult to politicians.

Remember Al Gore? First debate with W- too snotty and aggressive with the tongue clucking. Next debate- too smarmy and saccharine. He ran out of chances to ‘reinvent’ himself into a not revolting human being. Sometimes people just believe the truth.
