If the "insiders" go after Trump tonight, as Jeb Bush plans to do, Lord said, all they do is strengthen him by reinforcing that they are a bunch of insiders.
And while he made it clear that he in no way works for Donald Trump, it was the billionaire who likely helped Lord get his job at CNN. Lord said Trump complained to CNN execs that the network only featured commentators who didn't get him, so CNN asked The Donald who in the world of conservative media he would suggest, and he said Jeffrey Lord, who was by that point a contributing editor of The American Spectator and a columnist for NewsBusters.
"The phone starts exploding from requests from CNN," he said.
He started doing interviews by phone from his Camp Hill home, and that quickly turned to Skyping. He has found a niche and received positive feedback from those at CNN.
"(Trump) certainly gave CNN my name, but I had to take it from there," he said.
Network President Jeff Zucker made it clear to Lord that he wants a "Reagan conservative" point of view, but from someone not living in New York or in the Beltway.
"It is a different world," he said.
He gets along well with his more liberal colleagues at CNN.

jeff lord is a good conservative. one of a handful of honest journalists/pundits worth reading. i think trump has been studying the real conservative base and their views, because he needed a way into to realize his political ambitions.
he’s probably been listening to levin and reading codevilla as well. he’s smart. he’s figured out that true conservatives are the most under-represented large group people in America, and he’s figured out how to use them as a spring board.
The libtards at CNN will eventually crack him. Give it time. Say 3 months after his first broadcast.

in terms of ben carson, he’s most likely a gope/romney plant. i’ve seen enough indirect evidence (emails, fake polls, gope low-key advocacy for the last few years, etc.) to raise my suspicions.
