The real story behind Trump's Florida gaming obsession
politico ^ | September 17, 2015 | By MARC CAPUTO

Jeb Bush was ready to counterpunch at Wednesday night’s debate when asked about Donald Trump’s statement that politicians could be bought. "The one guy that had some special interests that I know of that tried to get me to change my views on something—that was generous and gave me money—was Donald Trump," Bush said. "He wanted casino gambling in Florida."

That’s when Trump cut him off—and failed to tell the truth. “I didn't,” Trump said.

He and his company have repeatedly been on record trying to get casino deals in one form or another in Florida. From hiring lobbyists to taking a former business partner to court, Trump’s interest in getting a piece of Florida’s gaming industry has been documented in news articles from Tallahassee to Miami. Trump’s involvement in expanding Florida gaming—an effort that regularly fails in the state Capitol due to the influence of conservative lawmakers—is well-known among state capital reporters, politicians and lobbyists alike.

lets look at the candidate from NYC..form yet anther angle shall we.

allow me to prepare the stage so to speak for last nights debate. in some detail.

days prior to said “debate” one Bobby Jindahl leveled some very serious accusations at the candidate from NYC. accusations that one would suspect would cause the any normal individual quite a bit of consternation.

At no time during the “debate” did the candidate from NYC appear the least bit concerned over these accusations that I could discern.

I have to think that something of note was exposed by both the above mentioned accusations and the candidate from NYC’s rather out of place nonchalance over being on the same “stage” as Mr Jindahl.

TIme will most certainly tell

The debate that wasnt.....a debate.

Debates have a strict format..this “debate” didnt follow those conventions at all

It was more or less a “cage match” worthy of so called reality TV...which included the :”Added Attraction” of moderators throwing a bit of raw meat to the “contestants” at every opportunity.

Ted Cruz when baited didnt bite..maintain hs decorum..didnt flush...stutter roll his eyes grimace or hem and haw. Given the circumstances he did exceptionally well, which one could have expected from an authentic mature leader.

The other guys “performances” ranged from fair to middling.. all the way to utterly bizarre and unacceptable

Sadly for most of the “contestants” the “veiwer” couldnt take one attribute from the prospective candidate in column A and another from the prospective candidate in column B...and create any sort of ideal prospective “candidate’

Senator Cruzes statements and demeanor didnt need any fudging.

thats a great way to judge a mans character

if it’s not illegal.

So. Bill CLinton the great philanderer had acceptable character based on his well known likely LEGAL escapades?

thanks for sharing....

I dont believe that my assertion or Bushes was that the Prospective Candidate form NYC....gave any funds directly to Bush..but rather that the Prospective Candidate form NYC wanted casinos on Florida

Perhaps a REVIEW of my statement might help clarify your perceptions as to what I stated?

No, I wasn’t questioning your statement, but rather Jeb’s claim in the debate last night.

Here’s CNN hitting Trump’s claim on the exchange as false, and no doubt insofar as Trump’s lobbyists reached out to Bush or his people and other GOP pols or officials on it, Jeb flat out said that Trump “gave me money”—when Trump didn’t.

He did host a fundraiser for Jeb, and he did donate to the RNC that cycle, but Bush has previously sworn that he had nothing to do with that RNC donation, and Trump is not on record as having given money to Bush at all.

Jeb lied about that, which gave Trump IMO plenty of wiggle room to deny Bush’s claim.

The real story here is Bush said Trump gave him some money. Trump gave him money for the casino, and Bush walked on the deal. That’s what happened. That’s why Trump is in this race..... to take Bush down. That’s the good news, that he is taking Bush down.

"So a real estate developer wanted to give a politician money to forward his business aim of building casinos.

" I fail to see what’s bad about this. Evidently the people who didn’t want the casinos built paid Jeb more."

its OKAY that trump LIED about this durimg a televised debate..

Yep... I'm guessing Jeb took money from both sides. Trump and the anti-casino crowd.

If you’re claiming that any of the people running are completely above lying a little to get elected.... man... your got a difficult argument to make.

I'm not saying lying is a plus. But I'm not believing that there is someone running who NEVER tells a lie. They're all trying to get elected.

Trump is going to take Bush out of this thing, that's the good news. And I think he'll take down all challengers until Bush is out.

the most moral among them has obviously at some point told some sort of lie we ALL do it.

Bill CLinton told a whopper a few years ago and its been his shadow ever since

thats NOT the Kind of man I want in the Whitehouse

I never had casino with that Man... Jebby Bush..not one time never?

the Prospective candidate form NYC’s Character MATTERS and its apparently not quite up to snuff

simply because we all do it doesnt mean its right

he lied to ALL OF US!

What IS a donation...

who was monica lewinsky?

etc...etc..etc..etc

The Prospective Candidate from NYC has a seriously flawed character.

as a matter of fact I was offended enough by his character that If he wins the nomination I’d challenge TED CRUZ to go THIRD PARTY!!

I think Trump got in this thing to take Bush down. I think he'll accomplish that. The question is has the idea of president grown on him enough that he actually stays in it after he takes Bush down? That's the $10,000 dollar question.

And its followed closely by, if he does stay in it and win the nomination, does the GOPe run someone as an independent?
