To: Kathy in Alaska

I think of this Brave Marine every time I drive past Basilone Road on the I-5 Freeway. It is just North of Camp Pendleton. I wonder how many Motorists know who he was? Nowadays, I wonder how many would care if they knew.

My Father spent WWII in the South Pacific serving aboard four different US Naval Vessels as a Signalman. His Late Brother was a SeaBee. Two more from the Italian Contingent.

I used to commute through Raritan and would wonder the same thing. The locals have an annual parade to honor him
