Like the revolutionary female Shock Troops much vaunted by Soviet propagandists... And like a hundred million other problems with Soviet history Sadly, so much of what Russians learn about their past is not quite true.
But there are a lot of non-Russians who buy into it nonetheless.
Leftists, usually, but not always.
“Sadly, so much of what Russians learn about their past is not quite true.”
But SOME of it is. Eastern European culture has ALWAYS considered women “different, but equal” to men. This goes all the way to the marriage ceremony, where crowns are given to the bride and groom signifying “king and queen” of the household. The crowns are swapped three times demonstrating that they are equal and interchangeable.
I personally like the story of the Soviet “night witches”, flying death trap wooden biplanes, who dropped bombs on the Germans at night. They were hard to see and hear and conventional anti-aircraft gunnery would not work. One pilot flew 1000+ combat missions.
