Will Carly Fiorina’s surge be undermined by her HP record?
Christian Science Monitor ^ | 9/26/15 | Cathaleen Chen

In 2010, Fiorina's Senate campaign was severely undermined by a series of attack ads that emphasized her failure as a Hewlett-Packard CEO. Could this happen again?

Carly Fiorina is doing well in polls. As Donald Trump saw his support drastically diminish following the second GOP debate, the businesswoman swiftly rose to No. 2 with 15 percent of Republican support.

But critics are skeptical that her success will persist. The reason? Her dismal tenure as CEO of Hewlett-Packard from 1999 to 2005, during which 30,000 employees were laid off.

In 2010, Mrs. Fiorina ran for Senate in California, against Democratic incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer. Leading up to the election, Fiorina was performing promisingly. Most polls showed she was within one or two points of Boxer, and some earlier ones even indicated she was ahead.

Then came the attack ads.

“Fiorina outsourced jobs to China. And while Californians lost their jobs, Fiorina tripled her salary, bought a million-dollar yacht, and five corporate jets,” the narrator in an ad released in mid-September of 2010 says of Fiorina’s legacy as CEO of the Fortune 500 tech company. Audio then cuts to a soundbite of Fiorina from a previous interview. “I’m proud of what I did at HP,” she says.

I think she has already peaked. HP and Lucent have sunk her.

The joke is her miserable tenure at HP is her only real qualification to run for president. So, yes it will undermine her.

Ho hum...

ANOTHER hit piece against Carly Fiorina that oh-so-conveniently “forgets” to mention the dot-com bubble, the hundreds of high-tech companies that failed when that bubble popped and the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs when those high-tech companies failed.

Fiorina is not my favorite candidate, but I think that FReeper criticism of her should NOT be limited to posting semi-truthful articles in a “monkey-hear, monkey-say” fashion.

I think Fiorina is 100% RIGHT with respect to Planned Parenthood and 100% WRONG with respect to our Constitution permiting Jihadis to run for President.

I also think that Fiorina’s experience of FIRING thousands of HP employees to save HP from bankruptcy (which it manifestly did) indicates she COULD FIRE thousands of bureaucratic “drones” as a needed to start reducing our National deficit.

I don’t much care if this hit piece is being circulated by Hillary’s goons or Jeb’s goons, trying to lift their poll numbers.

But I do care that “piling on” is considered to be an acceptable alternative to fact checking, analysis and debate.

CARLY FIORINA SLAMS DONALD TRUMP ON IMMIGRATION: HIS IDEAS ‘STOKE ANGER’

Carly Fiorina served as the CEO of Hewlett-Packard from 1999 to 2005.

During that period, the enormous dot.com/high-tech bubble that had been building up for years burst, and Silicon Valley along with the country went into a deep recession.

ALL companies like Hewlett-Packard had to lay off numerous workers, and had to watch their balance sheets and earnings go south; and many did not survive.

Under Carly Fiorina, Hewlett-Packard emerged as well as or better than most other high-tech companies. If she had not done a good job of bringing the company back from the 2000 recession, she would not have lasted as CEO for six years.

Meanwhile, four of Donald Trump’s companies went bankrupt; and as a daily purveyor of what most Americans would consider hate speech against women, immigrants, Hispanics, Mexico, and China, he has no realistic prospect of being elected president of the United States.

Another Republican front-runner, Ben Carson, also cannot win the presidency since he’s stated that he would not have gone to war in Afghanistan after 9/11, which is so exceptionally pacifistic even Barack Obama supported the Afghan War.

So that leaves Carly Fiorina. As a woman, she can beat the Democrats; as an excellent public speaker, she can seriously outclass Hillary or Joe Biden in the 2016 Presidential Debates; and if she chooses a vice-presidential candidate like John Kasich who can win the all-important swing state of Ohio, she can win the presidency.

Fortunately, most Americans are not like the predominantly left-wing Californians who have destroyed their state by choosing public officials like Barbara Boxer.

There is genuine hope for the election of a Republican president IF Carly Fiorina become the nominee. Otherwise, it will be eight long years of Hillary or Joe and no hope for America.

Carly Fiorina isn’t the only one who thinks Islam was a great civilization.

Wikipedia thinks so, too: ‘’The Islamic civilization gave rise to many centers of culture and science and produced notable scientists, astronomers, mathematicians, doctors, nurses and philosophers during the Golden Age of Islam. Technology flourished; there was investment in economic infrastructure, such as irrigation systems and canals; and the importance of reading the Qur’an produced a comparatively high level of literacy in the general populace.’’

In fact, Amazon.com has a whole section on the Golden Age of Islam.

In addition to the other good qualities Carly Fiorina can bring to the White House is a knowledge of history. And since other world leaders like Angela Merkel and Benjamin Netanyahu are also well educated, stronger alliances can be formed between their countries and America.
