Is it not true that The Liberal Party and the NDP are virtually the same? And is it also not true that Canadian Conservatives as a whole are really at best RINOs, fiscal conservatives?
The Conservative Party of Canada came about after the old Progressive Conservative Party was crushed when its leader imposed a national sales tax in the 1980’s. A third party, the Reform Party, emerged. It evolved into the Canadian Alliance and eventually was merged into a new Conservative Party of Canada with the old CINO apparatus.
During this decade plus period the Liberal Party ruled with corruption, a failed ‘gun registry’ plan and so on.
Canada survived the third party period without the so-called “Conservative” party winning elections.
CPC, the new party, espouses fiscal conservatism but has not delivered a lower deficit, leading some conservative voters to be cynical about its sincerity.
Harper is more pro-Israel than Obama and enjoys “Israel Lobby” support for sure.
On social issues-freedom of speech-the CPC suppresses any comments by its candidates that are not PC or suggest a strong Pro-Life or Pro-Family stance.
