Now people think of geese as being meek and a little stupid, but they are neither. Most of the time, they are rather benign creatures, to be sure, but meek, never. And they can recognize, in a rat, a very vicious and dangerous adversary.
Those flailing, powerful wings can strike with enough force to break an adult human’s arm, and the peck of that bill can take out an eye, or gouge a terrible hole just about any soft place in the anatomy. The rat just does not stand a chance.
