Yup, McCarthy thought he could keep it secret or if anybody did find out it wouldn't hurt him.
The scariest part is that Boehner and all of the Repub leadership KNEW about this little dalliance and still promoted this guy as speaker. They saw NO PROBLEM with the affair. They live in a bubble. They are completely out of touch with reality and the people they are supposed to represent. In a democracy they would be removed from office forthwith.
