Obama reportedly considering executive action on gun control

As President Obama heads Friday to the community rocked by last week's Oregon college shooting, the president reportedly is considering executive action on gun background checks -- after he called for Americans to turn gun control into a political issue in the wake of the shooting.

Obama will meet Friday with survivors and families of those killed in the attack at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore. The gunman killed nine before killing himself.

The Washington Post reported that the White House is considering executive action that would compel background checks for "individuals who buy from dealers who sell a significant number of guns each year." Dealers who exceed a certain number of sales each year would be required to obtain a license and perform background checks, the Post reported.

Current law says only those “engaged in the business” of selling guns need to obtain a license and perform a background check. Exempted are those who make occasional sales, or who buy or sell guns as part of a personal collection or for a hobby.

Obama himself had not ruled out the possibility of acting unilaterally on the issue, saying in his news conference after the shooting that he had asked his team to see what he could do on his own to address gun violence.

If congress sends Obama a spending bill with PP funding, they should include money for the NRA gun safety classes!

..let their head's explode.

If he decides to do this, I am sure we’ll start “hearing from” the Oath Keepers and Three Percenters on a more regular basis — and they will be LOUD AND CLEAR.

ALL federal gun laws are unconstitutional. Executive orders (which, before OZero were used only for very minor issues, like setting budgets for office supplies and revamping HR policies) cannot be used to repeal the 2nd Amendment.

The Anti-American president is sneakily trying to disarm the American people.

It’s not like Cops would enforce any of this.

325 million guns Obama...good luck with that.

Bring it, Obama, you tyrant. There is no “law” you can make that we can’t nullify. Your “executive actions” don’t hold sway here. Rule .308 does.

Why not?
After admitting that amnestying illegals by EO would be beyond his executive power, he did it anyway and our champions in Congress did nothing ... wait a sec, they gave him the money he needed to do it.
Just as they’re voting him money to settle desperate muslims in our neighborhoods.
Congress may as well be Henry VIII’s parliament.

Good article:

Gun Rights Advocates Have A Devastating New Argument Against Gun Control. Here It Is.

American gun owners are beginning to respond with a fresh, powerful argument when facing anti-gun liberals. Here it is, in its entirety. Ready?

“Screw you.” That’s it. Except the first word isn’t “Screw.”

So, through a campaign of shaming, dissembling, and outright slander, liberals are trying to talk Americans into giving up their weapons voluntarily. There’s always another “common sense” restriction to enact, spurred on by a tragedy that the last “common sense” restriction didn’t prevent and that the proposed new “common sense” restriction would not have prevented. They want to do it in baby steps, and with our cooperation, since they cannot do it by force.

There are a few people arguing in good faith, but it’s too late. Liberal writer Kurt Eichenwald recently wrote a “compromise” proposal to settle the gun issue that was notable because he actually analyzed gun freedom arguments and agreed with some of them. He cited the silliness of the “assault weapons” and “cop killer” bullet lies. While he still rejects 30 round capacity magazines, he began with opposition to silencers and then, after hearing facts and evidence from knowledgeable gun owners, changed his position. That’s good faith, the threshold requirement for a real debate, but Eichenwald mistakenly assumes this is a debate based upon reason between good faith opponents. It’s not. It’s based upon the desire of liberals for total supremacy.

So until the gun control argument becomes a real argument instead of a transparent power grab, there’s only one appropriate response to liberal gun banners. And it’s similar to “Screw you.”

Actually, I wish he *would* take some “Executive action” against gun owners - it might well spell the end of Dimocrat influence in the nation.

[[So until the gun control argument becomes a real argument instead of a transparent power grab,]]

There’s no argument to make- We should NOT have to be defending a constitutional right- period!
