What struck me about the linked Meth documentary was each former user said how much the miss it. People aren’t rehabilitated unless they want to be. Even then, they apparently don’t do well.

The cost of keeping prisoners in jail pales before the more widely distributed costs of their thefts and medical treatment.

The linked documentary appears focused on gay drug use as opposed to thug use. The thug culture is more violent. But I’m sure the I-miss-it, it-calls-to-me sentiments are the same. We can let people out of physical prison, but we can’t let them out of the prison they build in their minds.

The struggling black community will be hit with new waves of crime and violence from these thousands and thousands of newly release criminals. It’s oddly timed to coincide with the war on cops... which means the black community will have less protection than usual... as smaller police forces struggle with larger numbers of criminals.

What could possibly go wrong?

Oh wait, liberals are also attempting to take guns away from law biding citizens... leaving the innocent without any real protection.

Here’s my plan.

Next time release ALL the criminals into the 5 wealthiest zip codes around DC... House them there among the elites. Then disarm the elites, take away their expensive security systems, their armed guards and their limo drivers... then let the liberal assh*les deal with it.

There are. Mandatory minimum sentences imposed by Congress have tied the judges' hands. FEDERAL MANDATORY MINIMUMS

That link you posted was for mandatory minimums for drug trafficking, not possession.

That's correct. But, if you read some of the many articles discussing this, you'll find that the limits for "possession" are set so low, people are being convicted for "trafficking" with no other evidence than exceeding the threshold.

I dunno. Seems pretty lenient to me. Two hundred pounds of pot lasts quite awhile for an individual user

Mandatory sentences triggered whenever crime involves:
 100 g+ heroin
 500 g+ cocaine
 28 g+ crack
 10 g+ PCP (pure) or 100 g+ PCP (mixture)
 1 g+ LSD
 100 kg+ marijuana or 100+ marijuana
plants
 5 g+ meth (pure) or 50 g+ meth (mixture)
